▃▃▃▃▃▃▃ A SUN'S SONG. . . . . avatar: the last airbender book 1 — book 3 ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃
LOST. AVINA HAS ALWAYS BEEN LOST.
Lost. What does she mean by lost? Lost in a literal sense? No. She's never left the Southern Water Tribe. Lost in a spiritual way? Yes. That's it.
Avi has always felt foreign in her home. Distant from her family and friends, detached from the cold and icy South Pole. She's always felt far-off—like she was some place she shouldn't be. Like she was misplaced; dropped into the wrong environment.
So, really, was she ever home? Yes. Her family was in the South Pole, so she was home, right? Wrong. No matter how hard Avi tried to feel at home in the Southern Water Tribe, she just couldn't. Her heart and soul were always tugging her elsewhere—nagging at her conscience.
In truth, Avina knows that her true home is elsewhere. Avi knows that the fire that scorches through her veins is fed up with the forever winter of the South Pole. Avina knows that the sun that burns in her soul is ready to be freed. Yes, she knows, but she can't let them go. Not yet.
Not in till she and her cousins accidentally rescue an airbender boy from an iceberg that just so happens to be the Avatar, is she able to finally let go. Not in till her name is recognized by a prince who decides that he doesn't just want the Avatar, that he wants her too. Not in till Avina's mundane life in the Southern Water Tribe is suddenly uprooted and she is thrown on the adventure of a lifetime, does she finally let herself burn.
And boy does she burn bright.
