"Der-" Carolyn walked inside Meredith's hospital room

"Mom.." Derek sighed with a soft smile, really happy to see her

"How's she doing?" Carolyn asked and brushed her fingers over Meredith's ice cold cheeks

"She's been crying in pain for hours. She finally fell asleep after hours of cuddling" Derek kept holding onto Meredith's hand

"When can she go home?" Carolyn asked

"I have no idea. They suggested getting a nurse to help out with her needs but-" Derek sighed "I can't let a stranger help her. She won't like that at all" Derek rubbed her arm

"Derek.. Your dad and I have been thinking.. Our house is getting a bit too big and- and we want to help you. We want to help you and Meredith" Carolyn fixed the blanket covering her daughter

"Really?" Derek looked up with a slight smile. He actually liked the idea of living closer so he could help out his parents when needed but also so there would always be someone around Meredith if he had to get some groceries for example

"Only if both of you agree of course" Carolyn nodded

"I love it, I do have to talk about it to Mer of course" Derek smiled and felt her stir in his arms. "Mer, wake up. Mom's here" He smiled

"M-Mom?" Meredith groaned without opening her eyes as she had a splitting headache

"Hey honey. I was talking to Derek about something, are you up to listening for a bit?" Carolyn quietly asked

"Y-Yeah" Meredith whispered

"Dad and I were thinking about moving. And- Maybe we could move in with you and Derek, what do you think?" Carolyn smiled

"D-Der?" Meredith whispered

"I kinda like the idea. Mom and dad are way closer so we can help them out, and they can help us out" Derek explained to his wife

"Y-Yeah" Meredith nodded but winced as she moved her head

"Are you sure honey? It's okay if you don't want it" Carolyn softly smiled

"N-No. Love it" Meredith cracked a smile and finally opened her eyes shortly to smile at her mother

Carolyn placed a soft kiss on Meredith's weak and shaky hands and collected some cream to hydrate the woman's hands

"Mer, I need to help you up, you have radiation in a bit" Derek kissed her forehead

"No" Meredith mumbled in his chest

"Come on honey. It will be over in a bit" Carolyn kissed Meredith's forehead

"Mom-" Meredith whimpered as she cried in her husband's chest

"I know, sweetheart. I know.." Carolyn held tight onto Meredith

Only half an hour later Meredith was vomiting in her room, Derek had to hold her up as she was unable to keep herself up while Carolyn was holding a bucket in front of her daughter

"Aaaaaaah" Meredith cried as she felt pain ripping through her body

...

Derek's phone was ringing, it was his oldest daughter

"Dad! Are you and mom busy?" Ava asked

"Kind of.." Derek sighed as he looked at his wife who was asleep in the big hospital bed, her small body shivering despite the warm pajamas and tons of blankets

"I really wanna talk to you and mom, but I want mom to be able to join as well" Ava replied

"Oh sweetie.." Derek sighed. "Mom just had radiation so I don't think she'll feel up to it" He explained

"Oh.." Ava sighed. "Can I still come over?"

"I think mom would enjoy that, yeah" Derek smiled as he loved it when his family would all collect together

It took a bit before Ava knocked on the door of the hospital room

"Hey monkey, mom's still asleep" Derek went over to hug his daughter. "How are you?"

"I'm okay" Ava smiled and walked over to her mom, stroking her upper arm

"Hmm" Meredith stirred

"Hi. How are you feeling?" Derek rushed towards her

"Head.." She mumbled "Hurts"

"That was to be expected after radiation.." Derek sighed. "Can I put some cream on your head?" He asked as he wanted to make sure she wouldn't get any unnecessary scars after these sessions

"Not now. Ava-" Meredith insisted

"Okay" Derek rubbed her back

"H-Hi honey" Meredith whispers but felt very nauseous

"Mom" Ava smiled "I missed you"

"Too" Meredith reached for Ava's hand but suddenly felt pain rip through her head once again and cried it out in pain

"Mom!" Ava gasped

"It's okay, Ava." Derek said and took over, cradling Meredith into his body

Meredith kept whimpering in Derek's chest but felt herself unable to speak up

"Dad?" Ava asked concerned

"She's okay. She'll be way better in just a few minutes" Derek forced a smile

"Dad, is treatment working out okay?" Ava asked worriedly

"Not like we hoped to but it will get better." Derek squeezed Ava's hand. Nana and poppa are moving in with us"

"Really?" Ava asked but didn't look up from her mother, she was just too concerned

"Yeah. It will be nice to have them closer" Derek smiled

"When can mom go home?" Ava asked

"We hope soon.." Derek sighed

I actually feel pretty drained and shitty and whatever but decided to at least give y'all this update so hopefully you enjoyed :)
