Soobin's consciousness was coming back to him as he slowly stirred. His fingers twitched and his whole body flinched. When the memory from the events happening crashed upon him, he instantly forced his eyes open, throwing his body up into a sitting position. His mind was still slightly hazy, so it took time before he realize he was no longer in the camp, but rather inside of a weird looking thing with many chairs attached to it (he and the other teens from Safety Camp have never seen a vehicle before).
"Yo. Finally awake?"
Soobin's head snapped towards the source of the voice in alert. Yeji heard the boy's bones letting out a cracking noise before wincing. That sounded painful.
"Yikes. You should probably stretch yourself. Sleeping for two days straight is not good for you."
Soobin's thoughts halted at the girl's words. Two days? He was unconscious for two whole days?
"Where are the others?" This time, both teens winced at his hoarse voice. Yeji went towards the back of the jeep where supplies were kept. She took one bottle of water, handing over to the boy. Soobin stared at the bottle in suspicion, which caused Yeji to sigh.
"It's not poisoned, drugged, or whatever it is you're thinking." She placed the bottle in front of the boy before shoving both hands into her pants pocket. She hopped of the vehicle. "If you're feeling better, come down and join the rest for lunch. Your friends are also here, don't worry."
Soobin quickly perked up at the mention of his siblings. Does that mean they are safe? Does this means Soobin won't have to fear Jaebum killing them anymore?
Feeling of relief instantly wash over the boy and his tensed posture slowly melts into a more relaxed one. He glanced at the bottle, then at Yeji, before deciding that he trusts her. So, he drank from the bottle before slowly pushing himself up from the ground. He hopped off the jeep and went to where the rest are sitting.
They are currently in the middle of what looks like another abandoned city, although judging from the designs of the buildings, it was definitely a whole different city from before. Soobin's eyes showed relief when his gaze landed on the figures of his siblings who are eating wheat bread inside of a run down bread store.
When Soobin entered, all eyes instantly landed on his bandaged figure. Before anyone could say anything, Yeonjun had dashed towards him and engulfed him in a warm hug. Soobin slightly flinched when he felt Yeonjun touch his bruise, but smiled at his older brother, nonetheless.
"Fucking idiot." Yeonjun mumbled. His voice was barely above a whisper, but Soobin could hear him loud and clear and his smile turned sad. "You shouldn't have to risk yourself for us you idiot. Do you know how scared I was when I saw you all bloody and unconscious? I thought I was going to lose you."
"Sorry." Was all Soobin said before Yeonjun pulled away. He softly grabbed the younger's wrist, pulling him towards where the others are.
When the tallest male had finally sat down, Yuna gently embraced him in a hug. The boy patted the youngest's head before giving the other two boys a small reassuring smile. He was caught off guard when a bread was thrown his way. He instinctively caught it before glancing at the one who threw it.
"We found it in the store. It's still edible, so eat up." Lia smiled.
Soobin's mind wandered to the events from two days ago. This girl had single handedly killed Jaebum and the other four camp owners. And she did all that without batting an eye. She killed who was supposed to be her "savior" without a hint of hesitation, and looking at her all smiley now told Soobin that she was not feeling at all remorseful.
"Thanks."
Soobin took a bite out of the loaf. Although it is hard to chew, it is indeed still edible.
