Chapter 9

Nick dropped me at my house , as I went to the front door I saw that nick was already waiting ,"Hi Layla , I was hoping we could talk about the case ." I nodded as i unlocked the door I could hear his thoughts ,

I know you can hear me right now , I wanna know more about Zera Hunter .

One year before the murder ~

Zera Hunter ~

Today I saw Sal chatting with one of the clients , she was very pretty I have to admit . Are they ? Nah . He won't cheat on me . Though I wonder why they sat so close next to each other .

I think I want to start working again , I've been stuck in those four walls for years and I need to do something about it . Luckily I have my degree in marketing , but I want to do something different for a change , maybe psychology ?

As I kept thinking I was driving along the highway , though it's quiet this time of night . I speeded faster because I wanted to get home . I put on some music , I wonder if Sal is gonna make dinner like he promised , he keeps forgetting the most simple tasks .

He spends more time on his phone than anything else , I know he is busy with work but does he have to be doing it 24/7 ?

I braked harshly as the car jerked to the side , I nearly landed in a ditch . I got out of the car and noticed that someone was lying next to the car . Blood poured everywhere, even the dashboard was covered in blood , it made me a bit thirsty though . I dipped my finger in some of the blood to have a little taste . Not too bad .

What am I gonna do now ? I cant just leave him here . What if they find out that it was me ? I'm too young to be in jail , plus I just got my nails done !

I scrolled through my contact list and phoned David , I sent him my pin location and he arrived within minutes , he didn't live too far away . His eyes grew wide as he looked at the scene ,"What happened ?!" I sighed ,"I didn't know what hit me untill I hit him ."

He snorted ,"Okay I'll help , but you need to do me two favours one day ." I smiled ,"Just clean this mess for me and I'll do anything , I don't want to end up in jail ."

He nodded ,"Leave your car here , take my keys , we can swap back later , say that your car broke down and you borrowed myne."

Present ~

Layla Victoria ~

"Well , to answer your question , she is kind , thoughtful ,loving but she has a dark side , NEVER get on her bad side . She can be an awfull person and you know it ." I replied

Rook took my hand ,"I know what they did to you , they are sick people ." I sighed ,"I can't believe I was friends with them ."

Flashback ~

(After the last peaceful dinner at Zera's house )

After we downed one shot after the other the cups were all empty and we decided to take a break . I was so intoxicated that I could bearly distinguish reality from imagination . Yea , I was heavily drunk . Arya and Zera walked me to a room and made me sit on the bed . They handed me some pills ,"Here , this will help with your hangover ."

I grabbed the pills and almost drowned myself in the glass of water as I jugged it down . They left after about ten minutes and David walked in , he closed the door . I started to feel dizzy and I fell with my back on the bed .

He came closer ,"Oh Layla , I love you so much ." He sat next to me ,"You know what ? I wouldn't have to do this if you wearn't so stubborn ." I wanted to do something but my body felt paralyzed . I could only move my eyes. He came on top of me and slid off my jacket .

End of flashback ~

Rook lightly shook me ,"You okay Layla ?" I shook my head ,"I can't get over what they did to me . I don't even want to marry someone one day . I don't like most men ."

He shot me a look ,"Aren't we friends ?" I smiled ,"Of course we are friends . I said that I don't like MOST men not ALL men ." He sipped his coffee ,"What a relief , almost thought you hated me or something ." I chuckled ,"I would never hate you Rook ."

He smiled ,"If there are still some you like you can pick one and marry him . Good thing David wasn't a complete jerk , he didn't take your virginity ." I sighed ,"True , but that doesn't rectify his actions ."

I snorted ,"I don't think anyone would want to marry me though."Rook chuckled, he gazed into my eyes as he held my hand ,"Why wouldn't they want to marry someone as beautiful as you ?" I pouted ,"Because I eat too much brownies , I have the energy of a five year old-"

He put his hand in my hair and pulled me onto his lips , I gasped but I didn't pull back .

I kissed him back and snaked my arms around his neck . His kisses got faster and rougher  , I let my hand slide down his back and he let out a groan of pleasure . He helped me onto the counter and trailed his kisses down my neck , he worked his way up my cheek and smacked his lips onto myne once more and kissed me senseless .

I pulled away after a while , he brushed his lips over me ,"Anything wrong ?" I sighed ,"No , it's just I'm. . . not ready yet ." He smiled ,"I know , I will never force you to do something you don't want to .I will never hurt you ."
