Chapter 12

Layla ~

Nick frowned at Rook ,"We both have to give a piece of our light , that way neither of us will die ."

I felt my heart ache , I can't believe they would do something like that for me , but I don't want them to give up their light ,"You don't have to do it , Demelza isn't there another way ?"They might even die because of me , I don't want that to happen .

She shook her head ,"I'm afraid not ,there are many ways but it will end with someone dying ." She further explained that if Cassandra takes control again she might actually kill someone . I heard my syren groan ,

Why would you people care if I killed some weak humans ?

I just told her to be quiet , she hesitantly fell silent . Nick turned to Demelza ,"Lets get started, what should we do ?" She told them the words as we were sitting in a triangle,they repeated it carefully making sure not to stutter . Oh , and did I forget to mention that if they pronounce even the slightest word incorrectly they could die ?

I was nervous but I kept my eyes shut , Demelza joined saying some spell and I felt some kind of energy flowing out of me and Cassandra started screaming , everyone heard exept for Rook whom isn't a witch, vampire or syren . All sorts of voices came in my head and it felt like hundreds of needles , I was so tempted to look where the voices were coming from .

I heard Cassandra's voice as if she read my mind , maybe she did ,"Whatever you hear , don't open your eyes ." I nodded eventhough I didn't know if she could see me or not . All of a sudden I felt some strong energy replacing the darkness that wasn't in me anymore, I felt my eyes fill with light and I felt so at peace .But I felt so dizzy at the same time , it felt like I had a hangover .

Cassandra told us that it was safe and we could open our eyes , I held my temples . Nick studied me carefully ,"How's your syren ?" I thought for a bit connecting with my syren ,"She feels as pure as an angel ." A smile crept up on Rook's face and he clapped his hands like a little kid ,"Oh , thats good , our Layla is back !"

I winched and stumbled back a bit holding my temples , Nick held my waist ,"You okay ?" My ears started ringing and I looked up to see Demelza smirking . I looked up at her ,"What did you do ?" Rook and even Nick joined her and they had wide grins on their faces as black dots filled my view ,"Please . . . Help ." Was all I could mutter , I couldn't even hear myself speak . They stood their ground looking at me and I froze , was I dying ? Did they plan on killing me !? It looked like they were laughing at me . My body gave in and I fell on the cold hard ground . . .

Do you think Rook and Nick are working together with Demelza to kill Layla for some reason ? Is Nick a liar ? Or did Rook betray her ?
