After the mess was cleared I went to Nicolay ,"Did you by any chance see what happened ? He shook his head ,"No not really , I haven't seen anything suspicious ." I couldn't help but think back

One year ago ~

I took my bag and went out the door , I glanced at the balcony . In the corner of my eye I saw a shadow , I turned to look and saw a tall figure wearing a red dress , her nails were painted black like her heart .

Her long blonde hair was shinyer that the moon . Her face glittered , she was wearing her inocent mask ,"Layla good to see you !" She ran and gave me a hug

We walked to Zera's house , we were all lived closeby . Its one of our little traditions from highschool. We all once worked at the Guardian Angels night club , thats when things started to change .

I was the only single one at dinner , at that time Stella was engaged to Derek Matthews. He is , how to put it . . . A shady person . I don't like him one bit but if he makes her happy then why not .

They have a strange relationship, they were only an official item about a month ago and now they are engaged. Someone is fishy , but I'm not gonna interfere in their business.

Sal went outside to make a few calls , Zera didn't seem bothered by it . Their two children were at a friend's . Derek and Ivan were chatting, they know each other because of miletary backgrounds .

(Sal is the nickname for Salvatore)

The doorbell rang and Zera went to open , David entered . David is also part of our little gang , he goes with whatever he can benifit from . He is still as twisted as the rest of us , but we're all still friends .

We can hurt each other a lot but we don't because if one goes down we all go down .

We all have many many secrets , but the thing is Arya knows them all and thats exactly why she thinks she is the queen of something.

We have a complicated relationship, we are friends but we are each other's worst enemies . Like they say , an enemy is just a friend who knows too much .

Anything you say can turn into gossip, thats just our ways . David looked my way ,"How are things at the club ? U haven't been there in a while ."

I smiled ,"Still the same but the place is packed during the evenings ."

Present ~

Nicolay looked up at me ,"Are you ok Layla ?" I nodded trying to hide my tears . I lost one of my old friends today , how can I be alright ? He sighed,"Sorry that was a stupid question, I know it was your friend ."

On the first day that I started working here again , a murder was committed. I am just not sure of whom it could have been that had a motive to kill .

Rook came running to me with a glass of water , I hesitantly took it because I was still thinking about what happened. The police took the body to the morgue and the family had to identify the victim .

It must be terrable losing a family member .

I never really had a family so I can only imagine how it would feel losing someone close to you .

Rook was a wherewolf and also a police officer, he also investigated the scene . I thought for a bit , should I ask him or shouldn't I ? He must have read my mind ,"There was so many different scents in the room that I couldn't make out who the victim or the killer was ."

Rook left to talk to the head of police about the incident. Terrance kept staring at me and I wanted to say something but I can't , I dunno why . We had a bit of a staring competition untill he looked away ,"Sorry , I'm just particularly drawn to you for some reason ."

I chuckled,"I'm sorry too , I didn't tell you ." He was confused," Tell me what ?" I looked away from his striking blue eyes and pale skin ,"I'm part syren part vampire."

He took some time to process my words ,"How is that even possible?" I raised my shoulders,"I dunno , both my parents are vampires, but for some reason I'm part syren ."

He scratched his head ,"Might be a lost family link ." I sighed,"Maybe, but its still cant help but wonder about it ."

He looked at me with a smile ,"I also probably need to show some of my cards since you were honest to me , I'm stronger than the other normal vampires because I have stronger family ties ."

I looked up at him in suprise,"So your saying that your from royal blood ?" He quickly looked away ,"Well , thats a story for another day ."
