Gregory shook his head. No. Use. Reminiscing. He was never going back to the park, and he was never seeing Alan again. Simple as that.

Except that night he couldn't think about anything else.

"Superstar? Are you okay?" Gregory sat up in bed. Freddy was out of the charging tube— how late was it? — and was kneeling next to the cot.

"I'm fine, Freddy."

"Alright. But let me know if there is anything I can do for you." Freddy sat down on the couch.

Gregory held out for about two minutes before he started talking.

"I had a friend once; his name was Alan." Gregory sat up and curled his legs up to his chest. "We met right after I had run away. He gave me his sandwich. We would play together in the park a lot, but I only really saw him in the summer because he had school and played sports.

It went on like that for a few years, and it was great! But last summer... last summer I didn't see him at all." Gregory felt his eyes start to water. "I went to the park every other day, every day sometimes, and I didn't see him once. He forgot about me. He left me." Gregory squeezed his legs tighter and rested his forehead on his knees.

"Would you like a hug?"

"Yes." Gregory let himself be held in Freddy's arms as he carried him to the couch.

The next day, Saturday, was the day the kids in the daycare finally agreed to turn the lights off during nap time. Everyone was snug under their themed blankets on the daycare mats, and Gregory was positioned on a ladder by the light slider with Sun a couple of feet away. They were putting Gregory in charge of the lights in case anything went wrong (or, more likely, Gregory got too uncomfortable)

Before he could think too much about it and psych himself out, Gregory turned the lights off. There was no desk to hide behind this time, so Gregory saw the change in full detail.

The spikes around their face retracted inwards, and the entire body seemed to darken. Golden yellow changed to dark blues and pale silvers. Even the clothing seemed to melt into the different colors, stripes fading together into a solid color and glowing stars emerging from the fabric. It would have been cool if it didn't make Gregory's heart freeze. Red dots glowed in it's eyes, and Gregory knew that the change was done, this was Moon now. It reached into it's pants, to a deep pocket, and pulled out their nightcap. It snapped into place, probably with magnets, and they turned towards Gregory.

"Hi." Gregory tried to keep his voice from shaking, but a tremor still seeped through. He slowly pulled his hand away from the light switch but kept both hands up to his chest. Guarding himself and ready to flip the switch at a moment's notice.

"Hello, Gregory. I'm sorry about... our first meeting. I was not myself." It moved to sit next to the sleeping kids.

Gregory was immediately stuck with how quiet they were, especially compared to the chatterbox known as Sun. While Sun would spend nap time quietly chattering to whoever could hear, even if it was just themself, or drawing, or whatever else they could think to do, Moon simply sat and watched the kids, occasionally shaking it's hands to make the bells on their wrist ring softly.

Slowly climbing down the ladder, Gregory took deep breaths to keep himself grounded. The daycare was quieter than he had ever heard it (other than the time before, but his heart had been pounding in his ears and Moon had been laughing so that didn't count), so it was no wonder it took him a couple of moments to hear the song.

Moon was softly humming something, it was soothing and simple, with the soft bells keeping the tempo. Gregory felt himself relax fully, finally dripping his hands from his chest and letting them land in his lap. Nap time wasn't long, only forty-five minutes, but the time stretched on, and Gregory even found himself dozing off. He was woken up by Moon gently shaking him.

"Gregory?" Their voice was soft and low, with a certain quality that made it sound like bells.

Gregory grumbled a bit before sitting up. "What?"

"Nap time is almost over, and you are in charge of the lights today, right?"

"Yeah, yeah I am." Gregory yawned before climbing the ladder again and waiting for a signal to turn the lights back on.

Moon nodded, and he flipped the lights back on.

The change happened again, just in reverse. Blues and silvers turned to golden yellow and the nightcap went back into the pocket.

"Alright everyone! It's time to wake up, up, up!"
