This was the first Sunday that Gregory had spent outside of the daycare, and it was fascinating. Completely different from the Wednesdays he had snuck in or the Friday he had spent walking around. The crowd had been small or maybe pushing medium those days, they couldn't even compare to what it was like on the weekends.

Children seemed to be covering every inch of the Pizzaplex. Not a chair was empty and lines stretched on for ages. The only area Gregory found even slightly empty was the West Arcade. The lights were slightly dimmed, allowing the arcade machines to glow brightly. DJ Music Man stood on the stage, playing music and running the dance floor.

Gregory kept far away from that area. (Freddy had told him that the DJ was a "nice fellow", and even encouraged him to try visiting the arcade since then but Gregory could never bring himself to go willingly.)

A few tokens shone on the ground, probably dropped by some kid who had more than they knew what to do with, and Gregory quickly scooped them up. Three coins, enough to play three games. The closest game with the shortest line was Chica's Feeding Frenzy.

He got in line and waited. There were only three kids ahead of him, and they all looked related. Same blond hair, fair skin, and matching tie-dye T-shirts.

"Hurry up Jason!" The tallest one said, hair in a high ponytail with a gray ribbon.

"Shut up Meredith!" Jason, presumably, said. A short child with a chocolate stain on the front of his shirt. The other kid stood there, clutching their tokens and waiting patiently.

The squabbling went on for another couple of minutes before Gregory decided to walk away. Another walk around the room and he couldn't find any other lines that were even remotely close to the Chica's Feeding Frenzy line. Those kids really had a racket going on.

"Alright, let's give a hand for our very own DJ Music Man!" Someone in a staff uniform was onstage with the DJ. "We're going to take a five minute break for DJMM, then it's right back to the party!"

The music stopped and DJ Music Man left the stage, his movements sending chills down Gregory's spine. Slipping down another alley of arcade machines, he made it about two feet before he was stopped in his tracks by a face.

A couple of feet away, surrounded by other kids in matching sports jerseys, was a familiar face.

"I just don't know how you did it, Chi." Roxy said.

She stood around Rockstar Row with Chica at her side, talking while they had a break from the kids.

"Did what?"

"Talked with Gregory! You hang out all the time now, he's so comfortable with you and I- I've had one conversation with him recently and it was so awkward. It was like walking on eggshells."

"That's how it is at first, it's going to be awkward. Especially on his end. The important thing is letting him come to you. If he doesn't feel comfortable it's going to end in disaster. Let him get used to everything and he'll seek you out on his own. He already asked for a rematch, right?"

"Yeah, yeah he did."

"Then it's going to be okay Sweetheart. I promise! Once you get over the awkward stage, it'll be like you've known him for years." Chica pulled Roxy into a hug.

-----------------

Scrutinizing every inch of his face, Gregory tried to rationalize that it couldn't be Alan; but it was impossible. It was the same face, same tight curls with a fade and lightning stripes shaved into the side, same small mole next to his left eye. There was no mistaking him. Gregory wracked his mind, trying to think of a plan. He could try approaching the athlete (definite no-go, he was surrounded by other kids), he could turn around and walk the other way (that took him closer to the stage then he wanted though; and he could hear the crowd of kids behind him, he did not want to touch that mess), or he could just walk by and hope he wouldn't notice (the best plan by far. Alan had forgotten about him, so there was no reason for him to remember his face.)
