Midsummers.

The worst event to ever take place in Outer Banks.

Rafe absolutely despised it. He didn't like the people, he hated having to socialize, spend time with people he didn't deem worth of his attention.

The only good thing was you. His girlfriend. His love.

"Babe, are you almost ready?" he asked, checking his watch every 5 minutes to make sure you weren't going to be late.

"Yeah, let's go" you said as you hurried out of the bathroom.

You were wearing a beautiful baby blue gown which matched perfectly with his suit. Rafe's eyes were wide when he saw you, wanting nothing more than to rip the dress off of you.

"What? You don't like it, right?" you asked when you saw him looking at you, convincing yourself that he hated it.

"No, no. Far from it. You look absolutely stunning" he walked over and wrapped his arms around your waist.

"And you, my darling mister, look extremely handsome in that suit" you said while wrapping your arms around his neck.

"I really don't feel like going" he pouted, resting his forehead against yours.

"Me neither, but we have to be there for your family. We won't stay long if you don't feel like it, but we do have to go" you reassured him, not wanting to be with the Cameron family any more than you had to.

"I'm holding you to that" he said as he took your hand and lead you out of the house and to his car.

The ride to the party was fairly calm, music playing softly in the background, the AC cooling your hot bodies, your hands intertwined on your lap.

When you finally made it and Rafe parked the car, you barely talked yourself into exiting the cool haven that was his car.

"You're here!" Rose exclaimed as soon as she saw you. "I thought I told you both to be here an hour ago. You know what, never mind. Better late than never. Come on, your dad's about to give a speech" she ushered you inside the golf resort.

You took Rafe's hand in yours, knowing you were both going to need some support to get through the evening.

"You sure you don't want to bail?" he whispered in your ear once you found a place to lay low.

"Don't say it twice, I might consider it" you chuckled as you answered.

He gave you a smile and wrapped an arm around your waist, pulling you closer so your back was against his chest.

"I would give anything to be at home watching a movie and cuddled up with you" he whispered yet again, his arm rubbing small circles on your stomach.

"That sounds so nice. I'd kill to get out of this dress and these heels" you groaned, leaning your head back on Rafe's chest.

"Y/N!!" you were attacked by Wheezie before Rafe could say anything else.

The small girl was hugging your body tightly, her face squished into your abdomen.

"Hey, little monkey" you greeted her, hugging her back tightly.

Your back was still pressed against Rafe's chest, who settled on holding your waist with his hands until Wheezie released you.

"I haven't seen you in a while, why haven't you been around?" she asked once she finally let go and Rafe immediately wrapped both arms around your waist.

"We've been staying at my house, my parents are away on a business trip and I don't really like being home alone so Rafe has been keeping me company" you explained, your hands coming up to hold his.
