a/n: for the sake of the fic, we'll just pretend nothing happened on the way to Guadeloupe on the ship, the cross isn't a thing and they got there safely.

"Come on, we have to go" were the only words Rafe had told you before insisting you pack all of your belongings and leave the OBX with him and his family.

He hadn't given you any details about where you were going, why you were leaving, how long you would be gone, nothing. He just said they all had to leave and he didn't want to leave without you.

Multiple thoughts were running through your head while you were packing your bags, taking everything that you owned with you. Your parents had died in a car accident a year prior, so in reality there was nothing tying you to the OBX except for Rafe.

So, of course, you did as he asked.

"Are you ready?" Rafe asked as soon as he came by your apartment to pick you up.

"Yeah" you said, giving him your bags so he could put them in the trunk of his car.

You slowly made your way to the passenger seat, giving your apartment one last glance before getting in the car and putting your seatbelt on.

After he was finished loading up your bags, Rafe came over and got into the car, starting up the car and driving away.

"I'm sorry for all of this" he suddenly spoke as you were approaching the Coastal Venture in the port.

"What do you mean?" you were confused.

"Making you pack up your entire life and leaving with me. I know you love it here, and I'm sorry for being selfish and not even asking you if you wanted to go" he explained, parking the car and switching off the engine but staying seated.

You took his hand, an action which made him look at you sadly.

"You didn't make me do anything. I'm coming with you because I want to come. My home is wherever you are, so I don't care where I am as long as I have you with me"

Rafe smiled and nodded, leaning in to kiss you quickly.

"I promise, we're going to have a nice life there, baby" he said after you both exited the car and started taking out your bags.

"You didn't tell me why we're going there. Did something happen?" you asked, trying your luck to see if he would tell you.

He sighed, shutting the trunk before picking up your heavier bags to carry in your shared room on the ship.

"Rose figured that because dad faked his death and everything, him coming back wasn't an option. They both seemed to like Guadeloupe, I don't know why, so we're headed there to start over. I told them the only way I would go with them is if they agreed to let me take you with us. They agreed, so here we are" by the time he had told you everything, you had made it to your room, apparently getting one of the bigger rooms on the ship.

You slowly nodded, trying to process the new-found information. He had told you as soon as he found out that Ward was alive, figuring he shouldn't lie to you about something so important.

"Will they finally let us share a room when we get there?" you joked while laying down on the comfortable bed.

He chuckled, knowing exactly what you were referring to. Back at Tannyhill, Rose and Ward always insisted that you don't share a room overnight, not wanting to hear you two have sex all night long.

"They will, I made sure of that" he said, laying down on the bed next to you.

You found his hand and intertwined your fingers with his, both of you staring at the ceiling in silence.

"What do you think our new life is going to be like?" you asked, your voice soft as to not disturb the serene atmosphere in the room.

"I don't know" he answered honestly. "But I'm going to take care of you and make sure we have the best life possible together"

You turned your head to look at him, smiling when your eyes met his.

"Let's get married" you suddenly said, making Rafe smile.

"What?" he asked, shocked but nevertheless happy.

"Let's get married once we get to Guadeloupe. Just your family, have someone marry us and there's that. Eloping" you explained, shuffling closer to him.

He thought about it for a moment, not wanting anything else in the world other than to call you his wife and be married to you.

"Let's do it"

You giggled, attacking his face with kisses as the ship sailed away, bringing you closer and closer to your dream.

After a couple more hours, you had finally arrived to your destination and to your house, already beginning to settle in.

While Ward, Rose and Wheezie decided to take up the mansion, you and Rafe settles on the smaller modern cottage in the backyard, all of you agreeing that you and Rafe should have your privacy from now on.

When you told his family about your plan to get married as soon as possible, they were all as happy as one can be. Even Ward, who had always been cold and calculated, had let his guard down to celebrate with his son.

2 days later came the big day.

Ward had contacted some of his people from Guadeloupe, urging them to find an officiator that would be discreet about their presence on the island.

"How are you feeling?" you asked Rafe as you waited for everything to be ready with the officiator, clad in your white dress in the middle of your backyard.

"I'm excited. Truth be told, I had a whole proposal planned out, but this is more than I could have ever wanted" he confessed, leaning in to peck your forehead.

"Rafe, Y/N? We're ready to begin" Rose called out for you, motioning for you to walk over.

You and Rafe looked at each other, hands clasped and ready to walk towards the rest of your life together.

You had never pictured that you would get to this point with Rafe, let alone be in Guadeloupe with him.

But as you stood there, flower bouquet in hand and ring on your finger, you realized there was nothing that you wanted more.
