Chapter 13
Tru ran down the sidewalk, glancing at her Find My Friends app on her phone every few minutes. She had to get to Sonny before he did something he couldn't take back. The map showed she was getting close.

Sonny gripped the gun tight as sweat beaded up along his brow. His mouth began to salivate, and his hands were shaking even more, one of them balled into a fist at his side.
He had done so much harm, he deserved this right? But who was Sonny to dish out this kind of punishment? What would Tru think? Would she still love him? She wanted Carson to be punished but did she want him dead? Would they survive this? Carisi let out a giant, but quiet sigh as his conscience got the better of him and he lowered the gun. He fell back a few steps. Carson still sound asleep, Sonny headed for the door, putting the gun back where he had found it. He left the apartment and rushed down the steps.
His breath caught in his throat and his world was spinning again. He needed air, he couldn't breath---or he was breathing too much, it was hard to tell. He pushed open the doors and the night air smacked him in the face. It had started to rain, the wetness splashed him in the face. He took a deep breath, his chest heaved as he tried to steady himself and regain his composure. He rushed down the exterior stares to the sidewalk, taking them two at a time, he had to get out of here. He had to make it to Tru...that's when he saw her.
Tru crossed the street, her eyes wide with fear, her own hands shaking. She met him on the sidewalk. She stared up at him with fear and confusion, rain dampening her hair and mixing with her unshed tears. Her gaze fell to his busted knuckles. She gasped, looking from his knuckles to him then the building behind him.
"What did you do?" Tru asked.
Sonny looked at her, his brow creased in shame, he didn't speak, instead he turned and began to walk down the sidewalk toward his car, he shoved a shaky hand in his pocket to retrieve his keys.
"Sonny, what happened?" Tru chased after him, grabbing his arm; they stopped right by his SUV. The rain began to beat down harder, but she didn't care. She wanted answers. "What did you do?"
"I needed to keep him away from you." Sonny said finally. He turned to face her; her big brown eyes frantically searched his. "I had to stop him from bothering you...from hurting you."
"What does that mean?" Tru asked, Sonny could hear the disparity in her voice.
"I broke into his house to hopefully find evidence to help build a case on stalking," Sonny sighed, he decided to come clean. To lay everything out on the table. Tru deserved the truth, and he was never one to keep it from her. "But he came home before I could leave."
"Did he see you?"
"No, I hid until he fell asleep, but then I saw his gun—" Sonny continued. "I pointed it at his head and..."
"And?" She demanded. "Did you kill him?"
Sonny was quiet for a minute and then finally, he bowed his head and said, "No, but I wanted to, Tru. I wanted to kill him for everything he has done to you. For all the pain he has caused you and everyone around us."
Tru sighed in relief and Sonny knew he had made the right choice. She wanted Carson out of her life, but she couldn't live with blood on their hands. She caught another glimpse of his knuckles. "Wait," she grabbed his hand and held it up, "What's this from then?"
Sonny sighed, the shame filling inside him again. "Last night, after you fell asleep...I paid him a visit...I was pissed about the rape website."
