Kristen's POV

I drove around the city of Rome for the whole day, all by myself. Taking pictures, buying small trinkets for my friends and for some family members, getting coffee, and just having the time of my life without anyone with me.

To be honest, being alone by myself in a beautiful city with beautiful landmarks just makes me forget about my crazy LA life. It makes me forget about the lies, the secrets, and the crazy plans that were thrown on me a couple of months ago. What if I never agreed? Where was I now? Would have I been here? There so many things...

I somehow ended up by the Fontana d'Amore (fountain of love) in The Eternal City, the one in the movie When In Rome. It was a beautiful marble landscape where a beautiful stone woman posed gracefully in the middle of a circular fountain. At the bottom of the fountain's water there were so many thrown coins. I remembered that in the movie, she drunkenly took a bunch of coins and a poker chip and then she was chased by four men who were apparently in love with her but was just under a spell.

I admired at how people believe in such strange forms of finding love. These coins represent people that are wanting and wishing for love, hoping they'd find the right one or someone or in hopeless cases, anyone.

My mother told me she was once here, single and unhappy, because her boyfriend broke up with her. It was her 22nd birthday, which sucks, and she went to Rome alone. She was so desperate to find someone that would treat her like she deserved to be treated that she threw a cup full of coins. A man laughed at her for the silly act and she got irritated and pushed him in the fountain. The man just laughed and pulled her in when she was apologising for being rude. They laughed for a solid minute until a guard scolded them and they hurriedly ran away, dripping wet.

Turns out, she did get the love she deserved because years later they got married and had a cute baby girl... me.

It's funny how life figures out a way for someone to be happy. It just saddens me that their love was abruptly ended by an unexpected tragedy.

I felt my eyes water as the memories of the horrible accident filled my mind, not wanting to remember but it was there. I blinked the tears away and sighed a long one, shaking the thoughts off my mind. Just standing and admiring the landmark made me take out a penny out of my purse and closing my eyes.

"I don't know why I'm doing this because I'm not desperate for love or anything, not that the people who do this are desperate but... I just want to have what my mother and father had. I wish to experience extreme bliss with someone I love and someone who loves me equally the same. I hope this coin does something." I whispered to the coin before turning around and tossing it in the fountain.

I heard a small splash, signalling that the penny had dropped into the water. A sigh escaped my lips as I walked toward the parked Lamborghini, opening it with the car keys and getting inside. My phone rang and I quickly answered it, not bothering to check the caller ID. (I think it's really my habit of not checking.)

"Hello." I greeted, phone on my ear.

"Hey Kristen. Can you come pick me up now?" Nathan's voice greeted as I begin to start the car.

"Sure. I'm on my way." I stated before hanging up and driving off.

When I arrived at the same house I was in earlier, Nathan was waiting outside the door. I honked to get his attention and he waved his hand, walking towards the passenger seat and climbing in.
