The rising sun of Saturday morning filled my room with warm light. I woke up the same time I did when I had to work, getting into the boring routine of being here, but this time I would have time to do my morning routine. Hopping out of my bed, I tiredly made my way to the bathroom, flicking on the fluorescent lights overhead. I made my way over to the white tiled shower and bath combo and turned on the water, waiting for it to warm up.
While waiting for the water to get warm, I looked at myself in the mirror, my black hair a mess and my once bright green eyes full from the events of the week. My skin looked grey and pale as well... no longer having a warm glow to me. Was I walking around looking like this? Gross.
I hopped into the shower, eager to clean my oily hair... even if it was a plain white bottle just saying "Shampoo" and nothing else, an ingredients list would be nice. As I scrubbed my hair I wondered if I would have to spend my entire weekend in the room, I was pretty sure it was locked last night after I went to bed.
I stepped out of the shower, wrapping myself in a soft white towel...everything here was white. I towel dried my hair and brushed through it, strands of hair coming out more than they used to. If I knew I wouldn't be allowed to go outside at all, I would've brought a whole lot more.
I looked through the limited closet that was brought to me on the first day... white shirt... white pants... white everything. I sighed and pulled out a white gown that looked like a comfy sundress. White lace trimmed the top of the dress with pleated, soft white fabric falling just below my knees. I went into the bathroom to see how it looked on me and I smiled just slightly thinking I looked like a princess that just woke up. Definitely a confidence boost.
Three knocks on my door brought me out of my fairytale thoughts as I yelled, "Come in!" I expected my blonde key-holder to come into the room but I was shocked to see it was the cocky brunette, Arthur.
"How did you unlock the door?" I step back a bit, gripping the sides of my dress. Arthur holds a finger up to his lips with a small shush, shutting the door behind him.
"Sorry to give you a scare, but I think you need to know about Peter," Arthur gave me a serious stare... opposite of the demeanor he's shown me.
"What about him, the fact you flirt with me to get on his nerves?" I burst out, tired of the situation and having to deal with Arthur.
"Please trust me, I only did that to try and get him to show his true self." His brown eyes darted around frantically like he was waiting for something to happen.
Before I could get another word out the door opened to my rescuers, for once I was relieved to see Dr. Brenner. "Arthur, I would think you'd know the rules, seeing as you've been here for quite a long time," Brenner spoke up, walking into the room, Peter trailing in behind him.
Arthur's eyes looked like a deer in headlights, his large, muscular body shaking at the sight of the two. Peter immediately rushed to my side but my attention was focused on the two guards coming into the room and dragging Arthur out by his arms.
"Are you okay, Sophie?" Peter exclaimed, his sapphire eyes scanning my body for any marks... the only ones that showed were the bruises from a few days ago.
"He shouldn't be bothering you again Sophie," Brenner chimed in, "This should be a good time to mention that I think it's for the best you stick with Peter a bit longer."
My face went cold, I'm not sure why... Arthur seemed so serious and terrified of Peter. I dug through my brain to try and find an answer to what could be so scary about Peter, but the fear in Arthur made me a bit scared of Peter.
I must've expressed my fear on my face pretty vividly as Peter's face scrunched at my reaction. "Is something wrong?" He asked, looking down at me. I pulled on my best poker face and looked back up at him and gave a small smile, "Yeah... just shaken up by what just happened." Peter gave a soft smile back to me.
