NATASHA'S POV
There was a pain coming from all over my body, but mostly from my chest. Everything around me was dark and cold but I could hear someone elses breathing. With that, I quickly opened my eyes and groaned when I tried to sit up.
"Hey, hey, hey, take it slow Nat," I looked at the person who rushed next to me and helped me.
"Clint?" I furrowed my eyebrows realizing it was my bestfriend. "What are you doing here?" I asked
"Y/N called three hours ago, saying you got shot and that you needed me here," He answered, straight to the point.
"Where's she then?" I followed up.
Clint stayed quiet and takes in a deep breath, I know that look, he pulls that up whenever things seems to be bad.
"That's the thing, Nat," He picks up my hand as a way to tell me to not freak out, "She wasn't here when I arrived."
I stayed calm. "Did she tell you anything else?" He shakes his head as a response.
Standing up, I didn't even care if the bandages would rip off. It sure hurts but I need to get out of here.
"Natasha," Clint warned, glaring at me as he watched me almost out of the door, "You're not healed—""I'm okay, Clint," I cut him off but he didn't believe me.
"You're not and you're not going anywhere," He insisted.
"Y/N needs me," I reasoned.
"If she needed you she would be here waiting for you," He retorted and I admit it hurts deep down to hear those words. "She's gone Nat," It was like a slap across the face and even though Clint knew I was hurting it was still his responsibility to keep me safe.
He helped me back on the hospital bed, as soon as I was seated the phone started ringing. My eyes immediately locked with Clint and as if sharing our own thoughts, he picks it up and put it on speaker.
"Hello?" The voice was feminine, but none of us responded. "Please say something, it's me, Taliyah," She added and my eyes widened.
"Taliyah?" I answered but it sounded like a question.
"Oh great, it's you," She mumbled under her breath, voice evident in disappointment, causing me to furrow my own eyebrows.
"Taliyah, this is uncle Clint, can you tell me where you are?" Clint asked, stepping in as I think to myself.
"I don't exactly know and I don't have enough time, but I'm in a mansion of a man named Vindiktor Romanov, claiming to be my father, and I'm inside a closet right now cuz I just stole a guy's phone from one of his bodyguards, now I'm rambling and the footsteps are getting closer—" before she could even finish what she was saying the line was cut, leaving only a static noise.
Once again, this time there was no one stopping me, not even Clint, as I walked my way out of the hospital, going straight down to the exit stairs to avoid some medical people or rather security.
"Slow down," Clint rushed out, hot behind me.
"Clint, shut up, you're not going to give me another lecture, Taliyah is in danger and she needs me, it may not be Y/N but still, it's my daughter," I kept my voice low and I knew Clint was not sure about this.
"I'm not going to lecture you," He mumbled under his breath as if I was his daughter and feeling guilty about something.
"You are, you had your daddy voice," I mocked him, immediately reaching the ground floor.
I stopped and turned around to face him.
"How did you get here?" I asked him. With my look he knew."Not a chance, Nat," He stated firmly.
"C'mon, it's just for a quick ride, besides we're talking about your niece," I played the guilt-tripping card.
"Tony's gonna kill me," He retorted, walking ahead of me this time. "But fine. In one condition I'll fly the jet," He blurts out quickly while leading me to where he parked it.
"Yeah, yeah, but you don't even know where the mansion is," I argued.
He arched an eyebrow at me with a grin. "You sure about that?"
Furrowing my eyebrows, "What's that supposed to mean?"
He shrugged his shoulders, "Y/N may or may not have told me about it a very very long time ago."
"And you didn't tell me about it?" I asked, sounding more serious this time, but he didn't respond, avoiding the question. "Clint," I warned.
He sighed, "Y/N told me not to," He replied. "She couldn't keep the secret to herself so she told me and I promised that I won't say it to anyone else, and she needed someone to listen to and vent about her feelings, so for thirteen years, she would talk to me once a month, but she didn't told me everything, I think she left out the most important part," He explained all at once.
"The both of you lied to me?" I acused.
"I didn't lie, Nat, I was doing her a favor," He replied calmly and I only rolled my eyes in return. "Hate me for all your life, I don't care, I did what I had to do to keep you safe."
"Keep me safe?" I half-yelled. "You left me out in the dark Clint, how is that keeping me safe?" My chest hieves up and down as he watches me.
He didn't answer this time, giving me the silent treatment, because him knowing me I didn't need a fight, and usually when I'm furious about something he leaves me be, but this time he didn't walk away, instead he hugged me.
"You can't have a breakdown now, Taliyah needs you," He whispered in my ears, as if his words was my own.
