«Make it so hard and you know you've gone too far.»
--
Aurora chuckled one more time as Pierre told her something, Charles just stared from afar as they both were talking very comfortably with each other right outside of the Ferrari garage. There was no reason for him to feel weird about one of his friends talking to Aurora, especially when she was friends with him as well; yet Charles couldn't stop looking at them to see their every move. She seemed to be enjoying his story, as Pierre made exaggerated gestures with his hands to describe what his words couldn't. Aurora nodded from time to time, engaging in conversation with him and laughing when Pierre smiled, probably because he was telling her one of his typical jokes.
Charles could imagine it all. Why did he even care? Pierre had known Aurora longer than Charles himself, they were friends way before she even started working for Ferrari. They probably visit each other in Italy all the time, he thought. Those were the intrusive thoughts getting into his head.
The French driver had caught his gaze a few times during the conversation, but Charles assumed Pierre thought he was just checking on him and not in the way he was sharing time with Aurora of all people.
"Is everything alright with Charles?" Pierre mentioned, peeking at the driver for a second. Aurora turned to check on him but Pierre stopped her almost immediately. "Don't look! You'd be too obvious!" He scolded her.
Aurora creased her brows. "Yes, he's alright. Why?"
"Uh, I don't know, maybe because he's been staring at me like I just crashed his car in the middle of a race?" Pierre tilted his head. "He told me about your little date." Telling him was probably a lie. Truth be told Pierre had to beg Charles to tell him about it, his friend just mentioned Aurora but didn't get any further with more information.
"It wasn't a date." Aurora clarified, looking away. "We were just having dinner."
Things after her birthday dinner had been strange between them, to say the least. Something was going on and it would be dumb for either of them to just ignore it. Aurora didn't want to think too much into it, blaming the situation and the easy-going friendship they had developed for their dynamic.
Nothing else.
"You never had dinner with me back then." Pierre raised an eyebrow. Aurora rolled her eyes and pushed his shoulder. "I'm just saying...is Charles getting the special treatment I never had the opportunity to get?" He questioned again, teasing her.
"You never invited me." The French driver seemed almost offended by her answer. "It was just a friendly dinner. You do remember he used to date my best friend Sloane, right? Like not long ago?"
"Some best friends love to share." Pierre shrugged, smiling at her alarmed expression. "Look at you all pink."
Pierre looked over at Charles again, he was talking with one of the engineers but he did notice how he glanced at them for a second. It almost made him want to laugh. Whatever Aurora was doing to him, it would turn him insane from jealousy if he continued like that.
"Stop joking about that, I'm serious. You know how rumors start." Aurora warned him.
"Oh I'm sorry, but I'm not the one having secret dinners with Charles Leclerc in Italy." He could see how she wanted to slap him. Pierre grinned. "If nothing is going on then you need to tell him to stop staring at everyone who talks to you like he's been staring at me since we started talking. I'm glad we're friends because otherwise, I would be worried." He joked.
"You'll get me in trouble." She complained.
"Alright let's get you back to work then." Aurora didn't like the way he was smiling.
