«I don't know what to do, it's a whole lot to hold back. You know that cupid shoots to kill.»

Aurora hugged her knees to her chest as her eyes focused on her computer screen, the little circle with her initials in the middle as she waited for the others to join her meeting. Being back in her flat was always refreshing, even if it collected far too much dust while she was away during race week. There was no place like home.

Her alone time got interrupted as Charles' face popped on her screen, meaning he had joined the call. His lips moved for a couple of seconds but no sound came from him, he noticed his mic was muted and chuckled, proceeding to unmute his mic so Aurora could listen to him.

"Sorry, I was muted." He explained and Aurora smiled. "I was asking you how you were. Enjoying your free time from us?" He joked.

Aurora shrugged. "It's always nice to have some peace." She teased back. Charles narrowed his eyes and shook his head. "It's a bit boring when it is so quiet though. It makes you miss race weekends a little bit." She admitted.

"It's okay to say you miss us, Aurora." Charles leaned in, getting closer to the camera. Aurora grinned. "But don't worry, I'll be in Maranello in a couple of days so you won't miss me." His smile grew wider as Aurora shook her head.

"Oh, I thought you and Carlos were sick of me." She tilted her head, clearly joking. Although she did know they weren't so passionate about attending the media.

"I believe we would get sick of each other first before we get sick of you," Charles told her. It was very easy to be in a good mood while chatting with her...if he avoided any awkward comments or situations.

Things after that night at the club had resolved better than both expected. Aurora seemed to be pretty good at forgiving his drunken outbursts, and Charles liked to pretend as if none of it had happened. Their back and forth had continued just like before, but he had kept himself from even mentioning compliments such as how beautiful she looked or things like that.

It was better at the moment.

"You're not at the Maranello offices." He mentioned as he got a glimpse of her background.

Aurora shook her head. "There was a bit of a Covid outbreak in the department, some of us got sent to work from home until the waters calmed down." She wouldn't complain about it.

"I see, I see. Well, at least it happened before the next race week so you won't be missing." He said with a grateful tone. "Do you live alone?"

He still only knew the basics about her, could have known more if he had stopped himself from trying to get flirty at her birthday dinner.

"I do, yes. It gets a bit lonely, sometimes I miss having a flatmate." She never truly lived with Sloane, but when her friend was in Italy they were practically inseparable. Aurora did have a flatmate back in her university days, but after she started working in the sport everything was just lonely.

Except for Sloane.

"Have you considered getting a dog?" Charles raised an eyebrow. "Maybe a cat if you're a cat person."

Aurora almost looked dreadful. "Oh, I would love to, so much." She sighed. "But I don't know what I would do with it when I'm away."

"You could be like Lewis with his dog, bring it around." He smiled.

"Well he does travel in a private jet, I fly commercial all the time." Aurora wrinkled her nose, getting a chuckle out of him. "It'd be quite uncomfortable."
