«You're wasting your tongue with lame excuses and lies.»
---
Charles scrolled through his Instagram as he waited for Silvia to start giving instructions. It was more of the same, pictures from other drivers, some celebrities, a football player celebrating moving to another club, his friends back home, a lot about racing, and so on. It was nothing he hadn't seen before, and he didn't complain about it. At least it kept him distracted when things got boring.
He even liked a few posts and smiled at some of them. It was like getting a glimpse of other people's lives; even if it was a shallow one sometimes. Social media could be awful, he knew, but it also could be helpful and a nice distraction.
"Hello." The voice coming from behind almost made him drop his phone, his heart beat faster.
Then he heard a particular giggle, or something similar. Charles looked up to find Aurora standing almost next to him, smiling in a teasing way due to his reaction to her simple salute. His heart didn't calm down, but his lips did twist into a smile.
It was the sight of her.
"You almost made me drop my phone," Charles complained with amusement. Aurora shrugged, almost trying to look innocent. "How are you? I didn't expect to see you here."
Aurora, for a brief moment, trailed off to wave in Carlos' direction who was a bit far away talking on his phone but making sure to greet her with a smile and a wave of his own. Charles just watched the interaction, making sure not to feel creepy about it. Her attention was back to him in no time.
"I work here." She said with a smile as if he needed any kind of reminder for that. Charles rolled his eyes, one of his feet reaching to kick her softly. "Inappropriate workplace behavior. This is violence." She pointed at him.
"Provoked though." He defended himself. Charles liked that smile, the one she was giving him as she disapprovingly shook her head. "I do want to know. Is it because you miss us?" His lips tugged into a smirk. Now it was Aurora who wanted to kick him.
She just snorted. "Yeah, you dream of that." It was almost like after they stopped working so close together, behaved more relaxed around him. "Just here for some backstage footage." Aurora raised her phone and gave it a few taps with her finger.
They were there to record some challenge videos for their social media channels — something about naming iconic Ferrari cars or similar, Charles just knew Carlos and him would fail miserably — mainly as a fun sponsored ad. And since they were so insisting on getting better with their social media presence, it wasn't weird that she was around there. Plus they were in Maranello, he was going to bump into Aurora at some point.
"So you don't miss us?" Charles raised an eyebrow. Aurora shook her head, acting nonchalant. He couldn't help himself but grin.
"I have to go, but good luck." She giggled. "I saw the questions for this video and there's no way you or Carlos know those."
Before he could even try to refute — tell her that he was smarter than she thought, even though evidence pointed at the contrary — Aurora waved him off and quickly skipped away to film some of the iconic cars that were on display in the room. Charles would bug her later with text messages anyway, she was getting cocky.
His attention went back to his phone, and when he unlocked it he realized it was still on Instagram. There was a thought in his mind. His eyes caught a glimpse of Aurora, then back at his phone; sure she had to have an Instagram account.
As he typed her name on the search bar, Charles cursed under his breath, regretting not paying enough attention to her last name. He decided it would be easier to search for her in the official Scuderia Ferrari account, surely if she was managing that at the time, she could follow herself from there. Sadly for him, their great minds did not think alike, and there wasn't a single Aurora in the team's account.
