now what was she thinking drinking that much in a short amount of time?  she couldn't even remember most of last night. even less, how the hell she even arrived in her bedroom.

moving from side to side, it was now impossible for her to find a position that worked for her. her head hurt like hell. it felt like her heartbeat completely deserted her chest to go live in her brain, pumping constantly. of course she knew what she was getting into when she took her drinks and drank them both under an hour. she knew her limit of two drinks and yet... she had gone far beyond those two little drinks. the brownies certainly hadn't helped her cause.

especially since the effect of this demonic candy had still not completely worn off.

the sun had already made a space for itself in the small room, despite the curtains well positioned in front of the window. the sun would always find a way to come and disrupt your sleep.

el sighed before stroking the side of her forehead to perhaps miraculously soothe her  headache.

seeing that it was lost cause, she violently raised her pillow in the air and buried her head under it, to hide from the rays of the murderous sun.

a door creaked, followed by a few crunching footsteps on the floor could be heard. announcing that someone had clearly entered eleanor's room.

not being deaf but not wanting to have a discussion, she pretended sleeping  and waited for the person to get out of her room.

which of course, to her delight, did not happen.

"el. we need to talk."

she groaned loudly and threw her pillow far from her to get up to a sitting position on her bed. her eyes had not yet adjusted to the light in her room, although it was not that intense.

she rubbed her eyes vigorously before noticing her second brother, Jonathan standing in her doorway.

"jonathan?" she whispered, still unsure of what she was seeing.

hallucinations or reality? it was hard to distinguish the two at the moment.

"is that you john ? or jesus. honestly i can't tell."

a sigh of despair escaped the lips of her step-brother. to avoid attracting curious ears he closed the door behind him before coming to settle down on el's bed.

he slowly approached her face so as not to alarm her and stayed like that for a moment, staring straight into her eyes.

"god damn el. how many brownies did you steal?"

oh the brownies. that made sense.

"hum, why don't we open my stomach and see?"

jonathan rolled his eyes before giving her a well-deserved hit on the forehead. despite the fact that she was not his blood sister, for him she was basically his real sister. he doesn't take in consideration the fact that she had another family at some point.

"listen, i'm not mad or anything. but next time ask me if you want to try my stuff. plus it's very bad to mix weed with alcohol. good thing there wasn't that much weed in them anyway." his voice was calm but concern could be guessed if listened closely.

el nodded silently, her emotions were all over the place and she had no control over them. tears started to fall from her eyes and settled on her cheeks. it felt like she just got rid of a weight pulling on her shoulders.

deep down she felt a little bad for taking something from jonathan without his permission and on the other hand she was happy that he was so kind and protective of her. she couldn't have asked for a better family. it was a relief to see he wasn't mad at her at all for doing something she shouldn't have done in the first place.
