in the end, max didn't scold el too much for being late to school. she understood that she was probably still exhausted from the brownies. which wasn't far from reality. el slept like a real baby thanks to those.
she knew she couldn't make it a habit since her school life kinda mattered a lot.
she had to agree that it was probably one of the best sleeps she'd ever had. it didn't quite explain why none of her brothers had come to wake her up though. however, that was a question she would ask them later whenever she had the chance.
during lunchtime with her bestie, el had learned that max and lucas were talking to each other a lot more than before, which was a very good thing for the redhead. oh and it was real conversations not just some shy 'good game' or 'hi' at the end of their games. it was still too early to tell if anything was going to develop, but since the two of them happened to have a lot in common, it was a very big possibility. eleanor was really happy for her best friend.
especially since Lucas was not embarrassed to talk to her in public even though rumors were clearly forming around them. he clearly did not care which made him a very likeable person in el's book. in addition of a real great suitor for max.
she would need to put him higher on the list.
yes yes, el indeed had a list of all max's previous or current crushes. it was crucial to rank them with their qualities and flaws! like this she would not lose track of all the shitty things they would do to max so she could hold them accountable all the time.
the day finally reached its end. the two last classes she had were absolutely nightmares. it felt like hell on earth.
english, the one she probably hated the most in the word. basically because grammar was her biggest flaw.
it wasn't all! english followed by philosophy. who in their right mind liked philosophy? exactly. those classes were mandatory for everyone. no matter what programs they were studying in. so no. el couldn't drop her classes if she wanted to finish college with a diploma.
luckily for her, the two classes went by really fast since her mind was occupied elsewhere. certainly wasn't because of a six foot tall man named mike. of course not...
the infamous boy was actually absent for the two classes they had together. she was lowkey happy not to have to face him again... but still curious about the reason of his sudden disappearance. it's not like she paid a lot of attention to him or whatever. why would she waste precious time to do that!? she simply noticed because the girls in her classes were silent compared to usually.
anyway it was better to stay away from him for quite some time. she still wasn't totally over the really weird moment they shared at lunch.
since her last class was finally finished she rushed out of it and went straight to her locker which was close from max's one. fortunately for her, max was already there.
"you want a lift?" she asked her, while on her phone, leaning on the locker.
"it would be great yeah. will left with the car this morning and i haven't seen him at at all today."
she didn't hold it agaisnt him tho. it was entirely her fault. if she wanted the car she should've waken up on time for it.
she quickly unlocked the said locker to take out some notebooks to put them in her bag, before closing it."bet. i'll try to convince billy to let you in" answered max while rubbing the back of her neck.
oh right she forgot max's car was broken for the moment and had to ask her stepbrother for lifts in the mean time.
max was clearly nervous. it was seen all over her face and body language. the way she started biting her nails off just proved it.
