Chapter 10 - Mateo's Training

"Pardon?" Mateo was sitting at the edge of Edward's bed while Edward was beside him offering his hands in front of Mateo. Their bed was a double deck and he slept on top and Edward on the bottom.

"From what I have understood about your magic, it will only function if you touch someone. But too much will make you loose your consciousness and turned into someone that doesn't you. In order to fully grasp your magic, you will train your body first with receiving little energy. We will gonna hold hands for 5 minutes everyday after school" Mateo couldn't hide his mouth that opened because it was his first time hearing a lot of words from Edward. He stared at Edward for a long time that Edward suddenly hit him with his fingers at his forehead.

"Ouch" Mateo said while rubbing his forehead. The hit was painful but knowing that Edward was starting to break his walls Mateo can't stop smiling.

"Focus" Edward reminded.

"Yes" Mateo nod and sink in the things that Edward told him. Mateo thought that the method Edward made was reasonable. Knowing that he too much energy from descendants can turn him into someone, practicing his body with lesser energy and progress at a time he can control a medium of it, this will make his body immune and he could fully use his magic without interruptions of any other unknown living things.

Mateo opened his palms in front of Edward. Edward did not waste time and hold Mateo's hands. As soon as their hands intact, Mateo feel the heat coming from Edward's palms. It wasn't his first time holding hands with someone, cause he did it with Karl. But he and Edward aren't that close and it was a bit uncomfortable. Looking at Edward, he didn't have much reaction.

"Right, is there a way to keep me from copying magic?" Mateo started to talk to keep their conversation on going and at least it will make him less awkward.

"I don't know about your magic, but intelligence wise, every descendants cannot always use their magic" Edward pointed out the obvious which made Mateo realize. But without really knowing how his magic is use he cannot totally know if it was turned off or still functioning.

"Then how do you do it?"

"It just easy, if you think to turn it on and feel your energy flow from your body to your hands the magic will function" Edward raise his free hand and clench it. After a second a black fire manifest from his fist. Then five seconds later, the black fire slowly dessipitate. "And if you think to turn it off then it will turn off on its own. Just think of it as if sacking the magic back"

"Then I'll try it!" Mateo said then close his eyes. He started to think that he turned off his magic but he felt nothing, he tried to sack up something but he doesn't know if it vanquish or not. "I don't know if I'm successful" he slowly open his eyes and look at Edward.

"I think it is not easy for first timers" Edward said and shrug.

"You're right" Mateo said disappointingly but then he suddenly remembered. He grab his hands from Edward's grasp, which made Edward look at him confused. "I think I know how my power works" Mateo said then grab Edward's hands back. "If I touch you I feel like I eat something delicious"

"Delicious?"

"Yup, taste like chocolates" Mateo nod "So if I think that I am not eating chocolates" Mateo close his eyes again and clench his hands on Edward's hands. Then he did what he said, he thought that he was not eating something. A minute later he sighed "I think I'm wrong, I still feel like eating you"

"No, I think you're right. Because that's what you feel about your magic, that's how the magic flows in your body. If you think of stopping it, by taping, turning it off, or close the door of your magic leaking, are some of the methods to stop you magic from flowing. You just need a lot of practice" Edward tap Mateo's head and move his hands away from Mateo's "Five minutes have past" With that their training concluded.
