Chapter 10

A knock on the door awoken you and you look over to see a man appear. It wasn't John and you nearly panicked but the man put his hands up to show that he meant no harm.

'You're (Y/N)?'

'Who's asking?'

'I'm Marcus, I'm John's friend and mentor'.

'Uh, nice to meet you Marcus- where's John?'

The man shook his head, 'he says that it's best that he shouldn't be here. I'd say you two had a fight?'

'We damn well did have a fight'.

Marcus smirked, 'I have a feeling it was what he did?' Marcus was spot on, what a good mentor and friend he was.

'I've come up to talk to you about the situation you're in'.

'John showed me a file on this woman named Lady Jane'.

Marcus nodded, 'yes, I assume you've gone through it all. She's created her own group and she's spread them out across the whole city'.

'So... She's like, really dangerous then?'

'Not too dangerous to my liking'.

The file wasn't enough for you. You wanted more information, for example, you wanted to know more about her past with John Wick. Were they really lovers? Or were they enemies from the very beginning?

'You have some questions?'

He could read you like a book already.

'So... Is she a past lover of John's?'

Marcus sighed and nodded, 'yes, she was formerly his lover and then... Helen came along', you cock an eyebrow at him, 'Helen?'

'I think he should talk to you about this question. Though I assume he might not want to'.

'Oh, ok... Well, what else do I need to know- actually I got mad at John because he took my phone- I was on the phone talking to my father... My parents were in the hostpital. She had some kind of disease which caused her to collapse'.

'I'm very sorry to hear that. But it was the right thing to do. He had to get that phone rewired and-'.

'Are you serious? You're not even agree that what he did was uncalled for?'

'It was uncalled for, but it's for your safety'.

At this rate, you didn't care about your safety, 'so... She's after me because of my relationship woth him them?'

'She could use you against him'.

It made sense, so you knew you had to stay in here... But why here?

'What is this place? John said it was special... Who is John?'

Marcus was silent for a few moments before finally answering your questions.

'He's a professional assasin and this is a hotel that is a home to many more of his kind. It's a safe haven were violence is frowned upon.

I'm in a hotel filled with fucking assasins. How bad can this get?

'Oh my god, I'm going to fucking die!'

You took note on how they weren't allowed to hard a hair on each other, but you were scared shitless.

'I want to go home!'

You snapped and Marcus sighed, 'look, I understand that you want to, but you can't and you need to understand-'.

'Leave me alone! Go away!'

'I can't. I need to go through the whole-'.

'Well that can wait!'

The door to the room swung open and John stepped in. His face was calm and emotionless, 'I'll handle this Marcus, thank you', his voice was surprisingly low and gentle as he spoke to the other man.

'Are you sure?'

Marcus looked slightly worried but John waved him off, 'I'll be alright'.
You watch Marcus slowly leave the room, clearly not comfortable with the situation but knew that he needed to go, otherwise you would yell at him again.
When you and John were left alone, he had given you his full attention, 'here's your phone', he passes it to you and snatch it off of him.

'I'm not going to say thank you'.

You snap at him but he shrugs, 'I don't expect you to thank me', his calming disposition pissed you off but you were almost quite on edge as well.

'Lady Jane'.

John says and you roll your eyes, 'so, Marcus said that you two were former lovers?' John falters before nodding, 'yes we were... Former lovers', he must feel a little awkward talking about it, also it was quite random.

'I'm sorry, I shouldn't be poking and prodding. I was just told that, that's all. It's just so I know who she is'.

John stayed silent for a few moments before nodding, 'yeah, I understand', you sense that something is wrong but you don't care... Right? You don't care... Right?
