Chapter 3: Lone Wolf

"Hey baby! Everything ok?" Hondo answered.

He had just left the doctor's office and was speeding through the busy highway. Nichelle met with him in the doctor's office for his last session. She saw how excited and relieved he was once his rehab was finally over. Hicks told him he had passed the physicals and that all they needed was a final evaluation from his doctor to give him the green light. Everyone, including 20 squad, were imploring all gods for the evaluation to be successful and...it was! The doctor did stress the importance to continue treating the shoulder with occasional therapy and to start easy at work.

Easy? I don't wanna see a damn desk ever! thought Hondo.

"Hey!" Nichelle answered, "I just wanted to check on you, make sure you aren't jumping off helicopters yet!" she said sounding sarcastic

Hondo smirked, as he let out sigh. "I'm not."

"Just because the doctor cleared you, doesn't mean you're going to go crazy now! Gotta take it easy on the shoulder, ok?"

"Yes, ma'am." he said nodding his head

"Don't be doing them high speed, full fight, climbing off walls kinda stuff... coz you know what the doctor said about your knee, Hondo."

"Yes, I remember." he said with a grin, "I'ma be aight baby, relax."

"I just have a bad feeling coz I know you wont hold back and the doctor said your should. It's still rehabbing, baby. Please take it easy."

"Stop begging, girl. If we gotta do something like that I'll have Street jump off the cliff, ok?" he said with a smirk

"I'm not playing, Hondo!"

"Girl, you tripping! Treating me like a child!" he complained

"Well, you haven't really helped yourself. Have you, now?" she snapped

"Baby, c'mon now!"

"We just got out of the doctor's and you're speeding off to get in trouble. How do you want me to react, Hondo? Just a couple of weeks ago you were shot in the shoulder and here you are acting like nothing happened!"

"Aight!I aint gonna say nothing coz I know you got your mood swings and everything-"

"Oh, no! No, you didn't!" she interrupted, annoyed

Hondo giggled, as he turned towards the crowded parking lot of the convenience store.

"I love you, but...I gotta go ahead and interview this dude about a case we working on."

"Ok."

"You go on and take care of my little princess."

"Nuh uh! He's my little prince!"

"Girl, you tripping. You know that's daddy's little baby girl!"

"My belly is not that round or high. So, he's gonna be my lil chocolate kiss."

"You tripping! Come next appointment that ultrasound ain't gonna show nothing sticking out. I know so." he paused as he heard her giggle, "I gotta go baby. Love you"

As he entered the store, he placed his cellphone in his pocket. He went to the back fridge to retrieve an energy drink, when the back door opened and his target came in.

"Hey! You Xieng?" he called, as the man turned towards him

Hondo took his phone out and approached the talk lengthy man. The man nodded, as Hondo read the text.

"I'll come back", he said hurriedly, hurrying out of the store
