Chapter 15: Surfs up!

"Man, what a thrill!" Luca said excited, shaking some of the sand off his flip flops

"I told you not to go for the tall wave, dude!" Tan said with a smirk, grabbing his board and heading to the lot

The waves, the water, the soft rays of the sun, the breeze...perfect for a great morning surf! Luca and Tan joined a group of 5 enthusiastics as they hit the waves for two hours. Their run had been exactly what they were craving after calling it off for a couple of days.

As they loaded up their cars and downed their refreshments, something caught Tan's eye. Far to the west he spotted a familiar face. He playfully slapped Luca's arm, as the guys continued to chat.

"Hey!" Luca called to the group, "Give us a sec!" Luca gestured with his chin to Tan

The two officers separated from the group as they headed back to the beach. They spotted a teenager with a lean man, stretching. They were softly chatting as they spotted the officers approaching.

Chen immediately smile and went towards Tan. "Officer Tan?"

"Hey Chen!" he greeted with a smile

"Yo!" Luca called as the three exchanged fist pumps.

"Nice to see you!" Tan said

"Yeah, you too." Chen said with a smile. He turned to his companion and pointed at him, "Hey um...this is my cousin, we call him Lon, from Lóng, which means dragon." he quickly turned to his cousin and said, "These are Officers Tan and Luca. They're SWAT."

The shy young man just bowed his head.

"Hey! What's up?" the officers greeted, bowing their heads in respect

"What are you doing here so early, dude?" Luca asked Chen

"Um..my cousin came out here to train for his next marathon and I thought I'd join him. Last sprint we did in SWAT camp, Rubio beat me for like, a millisecond. He's been rubbing it at my face ever since. He can get under your skin, you know? So, I just figured if I train hard I can beat him and get him off my back!"

Luca and Tan smirked as that level of competition between the two young boys seemed too familiar.

"Yeah, I know what it's like. Street can be really annoying." Tan said as Luca shook his head

"How your sisters and your brother doing?" Luca asked

"They're better now. They wont go outside yet, but at least they slept better last night. Thank you so much!"

"Good!" Luca said nodding and grinning

Deacon headed out for early court date, while Hicks sent Hondo and Luca out for specialized training to the bureau. Meanwhile, Street spent most of the day filing and dealing with paperwork. The best part was that he was able to finish a ton of the required hours of education and sessions!

I swear to God, Deacon is my fairy godmother or something! He's a genius! thought Street as he stretched his legs and closed his laptop. Just a couple of more hours and his punishment was completed. Besides, tomorrow he had a couple of hours before the plane landed to complete some service time with a contact doing clerical duties at the airport's Lost and Found Office. If everything goes well Friday and Sunday, he will be able to knock off all the remaining hours there, without much hassle and not far from the gig. By Monday morning he would have completed all the hours required by the judge!

"Hey Street!" greeted Hondo, swinging his backpack off his shoulders and placing it to the side of his cubicle

"Hey Hondo! How was the seminar?" he greeted closing the cabinet door
