(Ch. 3) Wild Winds

Chapter 3: The Power to Change Fate

Sukia and Mikah make their way out of Vibrant City and towards the path that leads out of town. "Okay." Mikah says while looking at the PokéNav. "Windy Moors should be northeast of here. From what the Chief said, something suspicious is amidst to the point even the locals have left the area just out of fear. Something 'ominous' they reported."

"Alright. Sounds like our first investigation. Lets check it out and report back." Sukia says and Mikah gives a nod in agreement as the two Pokémon leave the city and walk down the dirt path.

All of a sudden out of nowhere, the two were pushed over by a sudden force of someone running by. Mikah gasped in surprise when the sudden group of Pokémon ran past the two and shoved them in the process.

What in the world?! Sukia gives a shake of head as she tries to stand back up after being shoved down. When Sukia and Mikah look at the Pokémon that had rushed past them, they see three familiar Pokémon that they had almost gotten into a fight with when they first came to Vibrant City. Team Shade! Sukia bared her fangs angrily when seeing the smirking Nickit with her Murkrow and Perserrker followers.

"You don't got your Chief here to help ya out now, do ya?" Perserrker mocked Mikah and Sukia. Mikah gasps when he sees the sachet that holds all their items and been ripped off of his flank and is now laying on the ground between the two teams.

"Oh? What do we have here?" Nickit says and walks over to their bag, the female fox Pokémon not even hesitating to go through their belongings. Nickit's eyes sparked and a mischievous smile crosses her lips before she pulls out the ancient flute with her paws. "Now this looks interesting! C'mon, boys! My gut tells me we can make a hefty price on this." She then gives the Eevee and Vulpix a smug smile as her teammates followed after her. "See ya, suckers."

"H- hey! Stop! That's ours!!" Mikah shouted as he tried to give chase but the three Pokémon had already taken off into a Mystery Dungeon. Mikah was so furious that he had twice as many cross popping veins than Sukia usually has. "Those no-good, rotten-!!"

Sukia walked over to their bag and brought it back to Mikah. "So what? It's just some crappy old flute. It's not like an Oran berry, it's a useless item. Not to mention it'll probably be only worth 1 PokéCoin."

Sukia's reasoning didn't seem to dampen Mikah's frustration at all as he gave another shout. "It doesn't matter! That was a present from Rillaboom, one of the few possessions he had left after his home and his village burnt to the ground!"

Sukia's lips pursed and she looked away guiltily. "Well, when you put it like that..." The green-eyed Vulpix looked around before trying to catch his partner's attention. "It looks like they ran straight for the Mystery Dungeon we need to go into. Windy Moors, right? The Chief said it's been a little more windy than usual. Signs of a frenzied legendary Pokémon. We'll run into them eventually, and when we do? We'll get the flute back. I'll get the flute back for you, Mikah. I promise."

Mikah's anger slowly began to melt and ended with a sigh before he smiled back up at his partner. "Yeah.. yeah, you're right. We need to investigate the phenomenon in Windy Moors too. Sorry, Suki." Mikah mumbles his last words sheepishly while looking away from her.

Sukia just smiled in amusement when seeing her partner embarrassed over his outburst. "Lets get going." She says before leading the way.

As the two Pokémon traveled, their terrain gradually turned from forest to fields of tall, yellow grass with a bunch of gray rocks jutting out over the grass. And, most noticeably, there was a strong wind that came in waves. It made the tall grass ripple like waves in an ocean. Even Mikah stayed close to Sukia's side out of fear of being blown away. Eventually they came to a stop as the terrain had lifted into what looked like a maze in a canyon, but the flat ground and waving grass remained.
