Freya closed her room door behind her and throws the bag of chips on her bed. She lets out a big sigh while walking to her dresses. Opening the top drawer, she spots the familiar tin jar. She smiles a little while running her fingers over the letters on it. 'The Fort Wayne's Children's Zoo'. Her mom took her and her sister Nancy there ten years ago and bought her the jar. Back then it was filled with overly sweet candy that she ate on the drive back and almost threw up in the car. Nancy was screaming all the way home about how her sister is going to ruin her new dress. They had always been a bit different. Nancy was always into pretty things and looking her best. Freya was into making fun of Nancy because she always wanted to be too perfect.

"Nice to see you old friend", she whispers when picking up the jar. It was still full but not of candy. Familiar faint smell fills her nose as she removes the lid. Carefully she takes a rolling paper between her fingers and starts to do her magic.

Freya didn't always approve drugs. Actually, she loathed them for many years until she went to her first party and had her first drag. After that there was no reason for her to hate drugs. Maybe hard drugs yes, since she saw that those could ruin lives. Of course, if she would ask her mom, Dustin or Nancy or anyone close to her they would tell her that weed was the gateway drug and she would ruin her life. That's why it was her little secret jar in her drawer. And that's why no one was allowed in her room.

Freya walked to her cassette player and pressed play. Billy Idol. She thought. That will do. With familiar ways she cracked open her window and sat on the windowsill. Taking a long drag in, her muscles relaxed and she rested her arms on her lap. Light wind kept blowing on her face as she closed her eyes taking the feeling in. One of her favorite songs playing and the faint noises of traffic calmed her even more. She started to sign slightly along the song while taking more smoke in her lungs. The annoying feeling that came from her and Steve's fight started to melt away with her other worries. While getting more relaxed she started to sing a little louder to the music.

Then she heard a creak. She knew that sound and where exactly it came from. You know when you have lived in the same house and in the same room you get to know every noise. And that was the floorboard right outside her door. She quickly but her joint out and sneaked next to the door. Not a sound. She bet it was Dustin and his friends trying to mess with her. And she was going to mess back.

She swinged her door open and was extremely surprised by the sight in front of her.

"Eddie? What the hell are you doing?", she exclaimed while looking at the very confused looking guy in front of her.

"Ummm... I had to pee. I mean. Billy Idol, great song. I mean I wasn't listening or anything but it was quite loud and-", he was cut off.

"Next time you decide to eavesdrop on me, make up a better story", Freya crossed her arms. She remembered that she was only wearing a top without her bra so that seemed like the right move to go with. She thanked herself that at least she was still wearing her jeans and not her embarrassing fuzzy pants.

Eddie looked a bit panicked until he understood what was going on. He dramatically sniffed the air before opening his mouth.

"I know that smell. Are you really telling me that Freya Wheeler is getting higher than her ponytail?", he snickered and Freya started immediately shushing him. She heard a noise from Dustin's room and the only thing she could think of was to pull Eddie into her room and close the door behind him.

"You /have/ to be more quiet. If Dustin finds out he's going to be so disappointed", she whisper-shouted to Eddie and rushed to close her window.

"So you are telling me you are afraid of your little brother?".

"Oh, and you have told Dustin about your drug dealing?", Freya snapped back.

Immediately after that she felt bad because of the look on Eddie's face. His eyes went to the floor and he shuffled around looking uncomfortable.

"Eddie I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that", Freya started to apologize when Eddie lifted his eyes to meet hers and gave her a big grin. He was faking feeling bad. Freya didn't know if it was the drugs in her brains of what but she bursted out laughing. Like do you know that laugh when you feel like your stomach can't take it anymore and your body feels like exploding. That kind of laugh. She had to sit on the edge on her bed as she was wiping tears from her eyes.

"I mean it wasn't that funny", Eddie chuckled. "That must be some good stuff you have there", he looked around clearly looking for the ashtray. As he spotted it on the windowsill, he picked half of the joint between his fingers. Lifting it higher he examined it and his lips curved upwards to form a little smile.

"Do you mind?", he asked while opening the window and digging a lighter from his pocket.

Freya shook her head giving him a permission to light it up. She watched him lean on the window while taking a long drag in. She felt her eyes examining Eddies movements. She felt captivated looking at his hands moving slowly with the joint and his back moving with his breathing. She thought that it had to be the drugs when she opened her mouth.

"Why do you hate me so much?", she blurted out and immediately wanted to take the words back.

Eddie turned his head towards her, looking confused.

"Actually no, never mind. Sorry.", she tried to cover it up while waving her hands forming a x-symbol.

"Why would you think that I hate you?", he looked at her with a serious look on his face.

"I mean I really don't want to get into this but I just feel like you hate me. You know, with the picking on me and Steve and laughing at us and stealing my pencil you know", she murmured turning her eyes on her lap.

She really didn't want to get into this discussion. Why did she even care if Eddie hated her or not? As she would ever become friends with her. Yes, it disturbed her since she had this need to be liked by everyone. And if Eddie had decided to become friends with her brother, she didn't want Dustin to be in between all that bickering. But it really had no actual difference if Eddie liked her or not.

"I don't hate you. Have I ever annoyed you before? No. It's not you it's just...", Eddie stumbled in his words. He clearly didn't want to have this conversation either.

But then it hit her. Eddie had never bullied or annoyed her before. The reason why Freya hadn't ever felt keen on Eddie was his words to others. But they had never been targeted at Freya. Until this morning, the first day of this year. And then it hit her. The only thing that was different with her this year.

"It's Steve?", she asked while lifting her gaze on Eddie. Judging by the look on his face she had hit the right spot. He put down the end of the joint while turning his back to the window. He leaned on the windowsill with his arms and sighed. As his eyes turned to the floor, he opened his mouth slightly.

"I really did like you before", he quietly said.

"Why on earth did you choose him?".
