Hard pill to swallow (fluff/comfort?)

"Aw come on! We're red what do we have to loose?" Joel begged etho, ever since they lost their yellow life Joel wanted nothing but choas - whereas etho was more worried about survival, "Each other Joel, we could loose each other, it isn't worth it," Etho picked a flower subconsciously picking the petals off, the sun began to rise- Joel hadn't thought of it that way, he felt guilt for having not, he walked over and rested his arm over ethos shoulder, "It'll happen eventually anyways, we don't have anything to worry about - no one dares mess with smalletho! " Joel let out panicked rambling, he tried his best to lighten the mood, he could tell etho was feeling more dread than rush as a red name, "you do know what'll happen right, we don't have much time together, " Etho covered his face with his hands, biting his lip hard enough to draw blood not that Joel could see that

- he didn't want to cry, not infront of Joel, now while they were red, he didn't want to seem weak.-

Joel felt like his mind was buffering - he wanted to comfort etho so bad, he just didn't know how- he walked over sitting next to etho, the two sitting in silence for awhile. " remember when we stole that sugarcane from grain and scar, " Joel mumbled- clouds of uncertainty dawning on him too, etho laughed a bit before it quieted down, "you think he was actually mad at us for that?" "No way, Oh- or when we tried to live on the outpost- " Joel playfully nudged etho remebering the dumb idea, "yeah, what a waste of time..." etho went quiet again,

suddenly something clicked in Joel's mind- be it slight frustration or pure empathy he finally found words "it was worth it though, I don't regret a single thing etho, you've always been the best soulmate," etho laid back, slipping his mask down as he sighed a smile tugging at his lips from the compliment,

Etho felt warm, at peace almost, like those simple words settled a anxiety he never knew he had, "Really, say it again?" Etho grinned, "I- You've always been the best soulmate?" Joel gave him a confused look "I know," Etho tried to hold back a laugh as Joel gave him a glare, "Aye- ETHO- fine I take it back, " he crossed his arms trying his best to seem mad, "aww, you know I didn't mean it - I love your compliments, " ethos voice trailed off, "and I'm so lucky your my soulmate, " etho mumbled under his breath - surely Joel heard it though, himself not being able to hold off a smile,

"can we- " Joel looked over as etho hesitated, " could we go for a walk - " it was a simple request really, not exactly what Joel had in mind for this afternoon, "of course that sounds awesome!" The two stood up and etho took the opportunity to hold Joel's hand as they started their journey around the 'neighborhood' they didn't do much talking enjoying the setting sun, The choas really seemed serene under the new ligh- the duo began running along the grass fields and giggling at random nonsense,

Etho huffed for breath, laying down in the lush grass field next to the what used to be relationship Joel sat by him, placing a jukebox and playing 'cat' the only disc he still had, before sighing and falling back onto the grass with etho. "I'm gonna miss this so much," Joel looked over at etho- the sunset lighting up the area in a beutiful display, the both took a deep breath, enjoying the moment they were currently in- peaceful, together, red,

"Im so glad we were paired, really, I mean it- I " "Etho, Etho it's okay," Joel smiled softly, trying to reassure his soulmate again. Etho turned over and quickly pulled Joel into a tight hug, Joel stood a bit shocked for a moment before hugging back, there were no tears or crying- just acceptance. "It's getting late etho," Joel glanced at the sky - now slightly littered with stars- The two parted from the embrace, Joel holding ethos hand as he leaded him back to the 'boat' - halfway rebuilt, though they didn't bother knowing what would ensure -

Etho sat on the edge of their bed and yawned Joel putting sorting his belongings through chests, The two both know with the way things were going it was only a matter of time before they well, lost. No doubt about it was etho worried, yet somehow he felt he didn't have to be worried- everything would work out, what really mattered was now. And now, it was night - and now Joel sat next to him, and now... and now they knew everything was going to be okay,

(Since there's less people they can all skip the night now that's the idea)

Etho and Joel laughed and layed down in bed,

Night went by quicker than expected, etho yawned standing up, Joel blinked sleep from his eyes and noticed etho grabbing his armor, "should we go look for pearl and Scott?" He smirked, Joel's face lit up, "Let's do it!"
