Eve

I woke up from my nightmare, entirely alone. That night made for a reoccurring nightmare each day Adam screamed at me. Every time he did, I prayed for Elymd to save me. But... I haven't seen her in years. Did... Did she give up on me too?

Right now Adam was out hunting. While out, he expects me to take care of our "home".

It was entirely, excruciatingly lonely.

"Damn snake," I mumbled as I swept the house, my belly getting occasional kicks. At first I thought it was just indigestion, but it was too frequent now.

A seering pain erupted in my lower region, leading me to scream. I attempted to sit down, but that hurt even worse.

So I ended up squatting until the pain had subsided. Then the pain repeated.

I had the instinct to push, so I did. Out popped two small humans and a fleshy bag thingy.

"Oh...oh my God."

I've never seen anything like them before.

Suddenly I got a sense of spite. Surely Adam wouldn't mind if I name things for once.

"You will be called Abel, and you shall be Cain," I told them. All they did in response was start wailing.

I panicked and held them to me. It didn't take long for exhaustion to creep through my body, making me pass out with the creatures.

???????

Where... where am I? I was just created and dropped off here??

I was right outside a house with two babies and one woman inside. One of the babies had an eerie glow around him, signifying that he was mine to watch over.

Cain. A voice said in my head. You are to be Cain's guardian angel.

I went inside and watched over the two children as the mother slept. Poor lady.

As days blended into years, I kept watch over the two boys. Naturally, none of them could see me. At least, Cain was convinced I was just someone they never acknowledge. He named me Aushmi when he was young.

The brothers were farming one day, both had grown into fine young men. The two were jealous of each other, especially in regards to their parents' attention.

"I turned my back for one second," I explained, "it was only a second!"

"But it was long enough for Cain to kill Abel, wasn't it?" He asked before my vision blurred out. Through a foggy lens, I watched as my skin became stardust and traveled into an endless void.

I... failed.

"Can't a demon relax in piece??" I asked them.

Lilith was bouncing up and down though, so either she was pissed or ecstatic. More than likely the former.

Lucifer reached out his hand before saying, "haven't you heard? The gates of Hell have been opened, and it's ours to rule."
