Elymd

I spun around, running straight into a chest. Instinctively I apologized and stepped back, only to see myself face to face with a demon.

Holy cow, holy cow, holy cow–

I regained my composure before saying a line we were all taught, "I'm not in the mood for chit-chat, demon."

He chuckled at my stubborness. "That's a shame, I was looking forward to chatting with heaven's latest rebel."

All I could do was glare at him before retrieving some wood. I could feel his eyes on me as I built a bed.

Determined to ignore him, I went inside and bandaged Eve. Her eyes fluttered awake.

"Ely..?" she asked softly. I smiled meekly.

"That's me sweetie. I'm here to help you," I responded before scooping her into my arms and carrying her to the bed.

"Thank...you..." she murmured before passing out again.

"Humans are such fragile things..." I sighed.

Slow claps came from behind me.

Ohoho, here's the rage again.

"Will you stop ridiculing me!?" I huffed.

The demon smirked, "but you're so fun to play with. And very adorable when angry."

"Well..." I said, "then tell me your name."

"Mmmm no."

Taking a step towards him, I held out some holy water. "It wasn't a choice."

He eyed the water, grumpily answering, "Vannor. My name is Vannor, little angel. Pleasure to make your acquaintance, although I'm sure it's not reciprocated."

I put the water away before standing taller, "and what buisness do you have here Vannor?"

"I should ask you the same question; isn't it a little far from your precious garden?" he sneered. I stiffened. This jerk did not just insult my garden.

"Never heard of a guardian angel? I am to protect them, specifically Eve, from death. Now what do you want?" I replied.

He eyed me up and down.

"Then why didn't you stop Lilith's."

His words sent chills down my spine. I haven't heard her name in so long. What made it even worse was how calm he was saying her name.

"I..."

"Oh, enough of this!" a woman called out. I turned my head to see a familiar red-head. "She was not my guardian, idiot."

"Then who was?" he snapped back.

Lilith ignored him, staring at me. "You understand He will punish you for this?" she said. I nodded. She cast me a look of pity. "You better pray you don't lose your wings, angel."

"Oh," she added, "before you go, you must excuse my brother. I don't know what he was thinking."

Vannor stuck his tongue out at her. She flicked him off.

"Thank you, Lilith," I replied before heading back to Eden.
