Virat's POV
10 more minutes. I was running on the treadmill, beads of sweat running down my back and neck.
''Virat sir apki phone..'' I put a hand up signaling to the gym helper telling him to wait. Finishing off my last minute of workout, I got off stretching. Checking my phone, I saw 3 missed calls from Zara. Shit, is she okay? I quickly called her back and she picked up. ''Zara? Are you okay? You're not hurt right?'' I asked frantic. She sighed and I could almost see her shake her head at my overbearing concerns.
''I'm fine jaan.. I just miss you.''
I closed my eyes in relief and smiled.
''It's only been 4 hours since this morning baby..''
''Toh? I can't miss you in 4 hours?!''
''Accha baba.. Miss me all you want. Now, I have to go for training.''
''Thik hain..you'll be back by dinner toh? I'm making your favorite tonight.''
''I wouldn't dare miss it. I'll see you tonight,'' I told her. There was a few seconds of silence and I knew she was smiling to herself.
''I love you,'' she whispered.
''I love you more baby..See you tonight,'' I replied and hung up. She made me so happy, I don't think it's healthy.
''Oi Virat. Puri din kya treadmill pe rahogey? Mahi bhai's calling.. Chal yaar,'' Rohit called out to me. I nodded and made my way out to the field.

Zara's POV
''Zara..'' I heard mom call out softly. ''Zara beta kuch toh khaalo..''
I couldn't reply to her because when I tried to speak, it felt as thought my throat was being choked. Choked on fear and worry. My eyes never left Virat sleeping soundly on the bed. The doctor had told us that he should be awake in a few hours and he was only just sedated into resting, but I couldn't help but feel restless. I closed my eyes thinking of how this all had happened.

''Hello..Rohit? It's Zara,'' I clutched the phone tightly, irritated.
''Haan Zara what's up?'' he asked.
''Can you give the phone to Virat? He was supposed to be home 2 hours ago.. And you know how he is. He never picks up his phone.'' I told him angrily.
''Uh.. Zara woh toh kab chala gaya..He left early in fact. He was talking about how he didn't want to keep you waiting..'' he said in a surprised tone.
My stomach dropped and I felt a twinge of panic hit me.
''That's..that's not possible. He still hasn't reached home. Shit..Rohit.. He should be home by now.'' I couldn't keep the worry out of my voice.
''I'm on my way to yours right now. Zara be calm. He's alright. I'll let the others know and ask if they know where he is,'' he spoke quickly and I could hear him shuffling about. The phone clicked and signaled that I had unintentionally hung up. I felt that knot in my stomach expand and my fingers dug into my palm. I walked downstairs to my parents and they looked up as I sat next to them.
''Kya hua Zara? You've suddenly become so pale,'' my mother asked and put her hand on my shoulder.
''It's Virat. He's...he's not reachable. He left training 2 hours ago.. And he's not picking his phone up.'' My voice felt distant even to myself. What if he was attacked? Those people.. The threats. No. We were getting married..no no no. Without any warning the tears started to fall. My dad was trying to tell me something but I couldn't hear him. His smile. His laugh. His overprotectiveness. His intense eyes. Oh god. Virat. I walked to the balcony helpless and blank. 2 hours turned into 4 and I was sitting in the living room watching Rohit, Mahi Bhai and a quarter of the Indian cricket team paced around the room with my parents. This was almost unreal. He was always thinking of protecting me and now this was him in danger.
''Zara..he'll be back. You know that right?'' Rohit tried to assure me.
I couldn't reply. He had to be back. He had to to be. My hand travelled to my stomach and I thought of our baby. Virat.. You can't leave us like this. A fresh set of tears fell from my eyes as I thought of this. Everyone was talking quietly in hushed voices. Suddenly there's a loud shout that seems out of place to the atmosphere of the situation. Everyone shifts quickly and run to the entrance of the house. I see George, Virat's bodyguard, come in first. My eyes lock at the sight next to him. He was supporting an almost limp body that belonged to Virat. My mouth went dry and somewhere in me, relief flooded. Everyone surged forward towards him but my legs stayed rooted to its place. My vision got fogged as the never ending stream of tears kept its flow...He was okay. My eyes never left his. His sleeves were stained with blood and shirt ripped at the front. He had a cut on his forehead and he was limping. As I registered this all in, he made his way to me. His hand touched my cheek and I couldn't hold it in anymore.
''Hi..'' he whispered as I slammed my body on his into a hug. My head against his chest, I could hear his heartbeat.
''Zara..baby..it's okay. I'm here. It's alright.'' he mumbled into my ear, his hand stroking my hair. I broke out in sobs and I clung onto him as tightly as possible. He stiffened.
''Baby.. I need to sit..'' he said uncomfortably. I instantly let go of him and helped him sit back. And that's when I noticed the large cut on his leg. I cried out loud and I fell to my knees infront of him.
''Virat shit! You're bleeding!'' He flinched while trying to move and I stopped him. Rohit said something about calling a doctor and my mind was just all over the place to think about anything in particular. Virat held my hand tightly and my eyes just stared into his as he conversed with the others in the room. I was unaware of anyone and anything else going on in the room. The doctor arrived and everything after that was a blur.
