Tooru Oikawa and Hajime Iwaizumi have been friends for as long as they can remember. They basically did everything together.
Birthdays? Spent together.
Christmas, Halloween? Spent together.
Family gatherings and family parties? Also, spent together.
Everything was and quite literally will always be together for the two of them.
But, unfortunately, this year was the firat year Iwa wasn't gonna be there for Oikawa's birthday... or so he thought.
"Hey, Oikawa. I gotta go, I'm sorry. We'll talk again later. And happy birthday again loser." Iwaizumi said, flashing Oikawa a smile.
"Thanks Iwa, talk to you later." Oikawa sighed and dismissed the video call that was previously happening.
So far, this was the worst birthday, the only thing keeping him up and excited was his mom and dad coming to visit today. That and the gift that Iwaizumi said was gonna be delivered today.
A few hours passed by and there was a knock on the door. Not to his surprise, his parents were there, except there was a box outside of the door too.
"Tooru!! Oh, you're so grown up now. God, we missed you. Now come give your mom a hug!" Oikawa smiled and hugged his mom. The hug lasted way longer than what he thought, but he wasn't gonna complain.
"Look at you, son. All grown up and living alone. How's Brazil been treating you?" Oikawa gave his dad a hug as well.
"It's been great. So many new things, but it's quite lonely being so far from family and friends. I just wish Iwa was here. It would really put the topping on everything." Oikawa looked down at the box. "Did you guys bring that?"
"No, it was already here. Why don't you open it?"
"M'kay."
Before Oikawa could open it, it burst open, with Iwaizumi popping out.
"Happy birthday." Iwaizumi said stepping out of the box. He opened his arms for Oikawa to hug him, the setter jumped into his arms.
The hug lasted a long tine, only stopping when Iwaizumi felt the arm of his shirt getting moist.
"Oikawa?" Iwaizumi stepped back and sure enough Oikawa was wiping away tears. "Why are you crying?"
"I just missed you so much." Oikawa said with a smile, still wiping away stray tears.
"Well, your in luck, I'm staying here for a few days. Of course if that's okay with you."
"Of course it is."
Needless to say, this was another wonderful birthday that the best friends spent together.
Iwa-chan and Shittykawa, best friends forever.
Hajime and Tooru, best friends forever.
