"Mom, I don't need a 'surf help' or whatever the heck it is." I whined,

"Astrid, please, you haven't been surfing since your sister died." She replied,

"So? Tuffnut gets to walk around with a sad look on his face and I have to go back to surfing?"

"You love surfing and I'm just trying to help you." She replied and got up, signifying the end of the conversation. I sighed and thought over what had happened in the last month.

My older sister Ruffnut died and I felt as if a piece of me died with her. For weeks my brother -Ruff's twin- and I didn't eat that much or at all. At first, Mom and Dad were devastated too, and they let Tuff and I have our peace, but now Mom was getting on my case about hitting the waves again. It just wouldn't be the same without Ruff.

Nevertheless, since I didn't want to see Mom's inner demon come out, I grabbed my favorite surfboard (it was blue with an A on it) and walked out the door of our beach house. The wind whipped through my hair and through my face as I walked down the shoreline and to the place Mom said my "surf help" was at. Immediately, I saw a guy sitting there and I could see from afar that he had striking green eyes. He got up when he saw me and picked up his surfboard before walking over to me. I backed up a couple steps when he came up to me. It looked like he was going to say something, but I spoke first.

"Just to be clear, we are not friends, we never will be friends, and this arrangement is only temporary. I assure you that I don't need help to get back on a surfboard."

The guy raised and eyebrow, challenging me to prove that I didn't need his help.

"Well, I wasn't expecting that little show, but I'm Hiccup and I'm not your friend either."

I nodded and started paddling out into the water. I was going to show this Hiccup clown that I was perfectly capable of handling my own surfboard. Once a wave came in, I stood myself up on the board and tried to let the wave carry me. Instead, I fell face-first into the water, and resurfaced to see Hiccup laughing his butt off at me.

"Oh shut up!" I yelled.

"Yeah, you totally don't need my help." He said sarcastically. He then proceeded to wait for another wave, and when it finally came, he got on his board and started showing off. I was pretty sure that he was only doing that to spite me, but I kept treading water and tried not to let him annoy me as much as I knew he was.

After Hiccup's little episode, he taught me how to get back on my board and the rest of the day was spent with me trying to get better at surfing. When I could see that the sun was just about to dip into the horizon, I looked at Hiccup and told him I had to leave.

"See you tomorrow." He said,

"Bye."

Well, days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into two months.

"Hiccup, look I'm doing it!" I exclaimed and showed off my move to Hiccup who was surfing right beside me.

"Yay, It's about time." He replied. The wave crashed onto both of us and we washed back up onto the beach. Somehow I ended up right on top of Hiccup and all I could do was stare at his mesmerizing green eyes. Slowly, ever so slowly, he leaned in and I did too.

And then, he kissed me. I laced my wet fingers through his hair, and Hiccup put his hands on my waist. We broke away only so our foreheads were touching.

"Are we friends now?" He asked,

"No." I shot back, and kissed him again.

That was sappy. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this one-shot. Leave a comment and tell me what you think, because feedback is awesome. Thanks for reading, don't forget to vote, and ignore any mistakes. byE!
