Summer
Main POV
_____________________________

I had my hair in braids as I sifted through the patches of clovers in the park's grass, trying to find a four leaf clover. My hair was in braids and my shorts were ridding up my thighs from the sitting position.
Sam dangled upside down from a branch of a tree near by, his hair was even longer than it was months ago.

I glanced up at him, "You look stupid."

"Stupidly cool." Sam hoisted himself up then dropped to his feet.

"No, just stupid." I smiled and plucked one, "Got one!"

"After three hours." Sam snatched it, inspecting it.

"It takes deliberation to find such anomalies." I popped onto my feet and held his shoulder and pointed at each leaf, "See? One, two, three, four."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah." He gave it back.

"Nah, you keep it. It's yours." I slapped it into his palm, "As a reminder that you are a dumb pessimist and to always believe me."

"That's a big meaning for a tiny ass clover." He twirled it between his index finger and thumb.

"Big meaning for a big boy too." I punched his shoulder and then walked away from him, "You hear about that party?"

"What one?" He followed closely.

"You know of multiple?" I turned back around, my hands in my back pockets.

"Yeah, Carly's, James', uh...that dumb guy Charlie from the table two down from ours at lunch."

"Carly's, I'm talking about Carly's."

"Well of course I know about that one."

"Want to go?" I asked.

   "Sure, do you?"

   "That's why I asked, dummy. I think it's at 9:00."

We were unfashionably late, but who cares. It's a party. We hadn't changed out of our clothes from the park. People were already there, it wasn't a huge turn out but enough to be crowded in the main parts of the house.

Sam leaned into my ear as we walked in, "Is there illegal substances?"

I smiled, "Yep, drinks and drug paraphernalia."
He rubbed his hands together and smiled, his teeth pressed into his bottom lip.

Carly had found us cracking open sodas and looked extremely disappointed.

"That's boring." Carly crossed her arms.

I flinched from the sound of her voice coming right behind me. Sam sipped his drink, "You must be insane, coke it good."

"I'm a Pepsi gal myself, but soda is so boring."

"Carly I don't feel like getting drunk." I said just as Sam puts his hand over my mouth.

"Wait..." he looked at Carly, "You like Pepsi?"
