Aiden smashed a bottle in the room making us jump, "Aye look another weapon!" he held up a half broken bottle.
"Hey watch it! You should've done that in the bathroom, now there's glass everywhere!" Tyler lessoned, Logan stood up "I-I'll get the broom."
I saw a bat left in a room and took it, that was weird but that was all I needed I followed Aiden over to Ashlyn who was getting healed by Ben and sat down.
"Here, you wanna squeeze this Aiden handed her a towel, "...Thanks." she took it, "I never took you for the leader type" Aiden squatted down.
"I'm not. But my parents are." she denied "Your parents?" I asked, "They're both from the military." she explained.
"Ah I get it. So you're used to being told what to do in a situation like this." "Well not a situation like this-" "Then do you also know self defense?" I cut her off accidentally.
"I've took a few kick-boxing classes." she remembered, "Thanks Ben. You're pretty good at this." she complimented. "Lol yeah, he's used to patching us up" Aiden told her.
"...From?" "Mm, various things? Skateboard tricks, rock climbing, hiking, jumping off tall places, stuff like that?" he named, Ashlyn got up and grabbed a pole Taylor and Tyler took off from the tables, "How many of these do we have?" she asked.
"Uh, 8 including the ones we're taking off right now" Taylor counted, "It's been quiet for a while now... D-Do you think the monsters are gone?" she whimpered.
"They're still outside the door." Ashlyn turned, "I can hear them but...Not in a normal way."
I tilted my head on the wall I was sitting on with Aiden's legs near my head "What do you mean?" Logan answered my question, "...Remember how I said I had sensitive ears?" Ashlyn paused. "Ooh! That's right! So you can hear them moving outside or something?" Aiden recalled, "Sort of. They make a certain...sound I don't think you guys can hear." I gasped "Like a super power!" "Can you get to the point?" Tyler scrunched his face.
"I'm trying you jerk. This Isn't easy to explain." Ashlyn pushed back, "The thing is, because of how loud everything is to me, I hear... Phantom noises as a side effect. Sounds that aren't really there. In the sorrel weed house I thought I was hearing a phantom noise and when I saw the monster... I believed it was just a type of hallucination. But then it grabbed me." Tyler scoffed at her response.
"A hallucination that grabbed you, injured you, and that all of us had seen ? And you thought it wasn't real?"
"Well you thought it was a prank and-no nevermind. It doesn't matter right now" Ashlyn tried to object.
Ashlyn hit herself with a pole "What I'm getting at is that-I can hear and locate them when you guys can't."
