Days were passing by and everything was finally settled down. Zain was recovering and Hania helped out Zain’s mother with work. She also helped the siblings with homework. A week passed.
It was 5 am in the morning when Zain woke up. He glanced at Hania who was sleeping peacefully by his side. He gave a polite smile to her and caressed her head. She cuddled up with a slight moan. Zain was sitting on the bed with his hand between his legs. His messy hair were covering his eyes. He was staring at a hole on the wall with keen eyes. It was pin drop silence in the room. After 5 minutes of sitting there like a mere doll he got up and fixed his hair with his hand. He than washed his face and rushed down. In no time he was walking outside. He was walking under a blue morning sky . The birds leaving their nests. It was quite on the streets with few people jogging. Zain was enjoying his company alone.
He than started to jog on the street with hand in his short’s pockets and a smile on his face. He was jumping on his toe tips. He had his hand frees in his ears. A boy jumping around the streets while humming with the beats.
He was enjoying himself when he bumped into someone. He immediately looked up while holding his arm in pain. The man apologized.
“Are you fine? I’m sorry did it hurt?” the man asked while glancing at his cast.
Zain was staring at the man while
fixing his ear plugs. It was a chubby man in a suit around the age of 36. He had beard and light hair.
Zain answered him positively,"Yes I'm fine."
“Thank god you are fine.” The Man took a breath of relief.
Zain slightly bowed with an awkward smile and then turned around to leave. He was about to walk back when the man stopped him.
“Ah wait! By any chance, do you know where Javed Ali lives?”
Zain turned around with a zap. His hair flew and than bounced back on his forehead.
“What Javed Ali?” he asked.
“Yes yes, I’m here for some serious business with him. I had to go through a lot to come here.” The Man mumbled while scratching his head.
Zain slowly walked to him and Murmured“I’m his son.”
The man zapped back because of the whisper.“Oh man! Why the whisper! Really? he had a son! Yeah yeah he had one I remember!”
The man surely seemed like a menace to Zain. Soon both of them were sitting in a tea shop.
“Oh that’s sad to here. I came here in vain.” The Man said.
“yep and I’m not his only son he has another too. Other than that he also has a daughter.” Zain uttered while taking a sip of the tea.
“I didn’t know that he would die! I mean! Arrh come on he was strong.”
“My dad died due to a disease he caught during the war in Kashmir. He returned home safely but died as soon as he reached Islamabad.”
“it must’ve been hard on you all.”
“Yes it was. By the way what was it that you wanted to say to him?”
“I came here from Thailand. I’ve only seen you when you as a child in photos. He wanted to move to Thailand permanently. Before coming to Pakistan for the war he asked me a favor to find a job for him in Thailand so he could settle there with you all. I had found many for him. I’ve tried to visit Pakistan many time but something always messed up so I couldn’t . I fortunately got a change now after so many years but now his eldest son who used to be just 10 is now sitting in front of me all grown up and telling me that his father is no more. It’s sad to hear.”
