small backstory on bella for no confusion:
Bella's parents were best friends with Big John Routledge and lived next door to him for years before John B and Bella were born. Both mothers of the two teenagers fell pregnant with their children around the same time, with John B being born and then Bella coming along 2 months after that. They had raised their two children as if they were siblings - to love and care for each other always, no matter what had happened.
When John B had reached 3 years old and Bella almost - John B's mother and both of Bella's parents just upped and left. Bella was left alone in her house that night and when she woke up in the morning, she realised that neither of her parents were there. As she was only two years of age at the time, she cried, Big John hearing her from next door. Just a few hours earlier, the mother of his child had just left him to be a single father, to raise his boy on his own, but now also realised the fact that Bella was also left all by herself.
Big John had no plan to put her into foster care of any sort, he knew that she would be a huge value to John B as he grew up and that the two needed each other and always would. Later on, Big John was figuring out what to do and as he searched the house for anything useful, he stumbled upon an envelope on the living room coffee table which was addressed to him, in it was a note also addressed to him from Bella's parents which wrote:
Dear John,
In this envelope along with this note is the lease to our home, finally all paid for. We want Bella to have her own space to escape to if she ever finds herself needing it.
Along with that are adoption papers, we know that you will be the perfect person to look after the babies forever, they need someone like you, a real good man for Bella to call her father.
Finally, there is a present and a note addressed to our baby girl, this will be for you to give to Bella on her 18th birthday, it has sentimental value so please keep it safe.

Big John wiped the tear from under his eye and got on with signing the adoption papers, not wanting to leave Bella without a family for another minute. From that moment, she became a Routledge, sharing the last name and more of a close loving bond than most people had ever seen between children - the bond the siblings shared being better than anything
