I wake up in Jeremiahs arms and go to my room to get ready. I wake up unregularly early and went downstairs to see Conrad looking for something to eat. " Hey wanna come with me to get the good muffins?" he asks. I'm hesitant at first but then agree, "Yeah sure!" We go to his car and he turns on the radio, "I wish you were sober starts playing and I start singing at the top of my lungs. I see him smile for the first time in a long time.

We pull into the bakery and go and pick out the muffins we want," Ooo! I call chocolate! And jeres like vanilla so get him vanilla." We put them all in the box and start driving home." Wanna eat them on the beach with me?"

"Yeah sure!" We walk in the house but somebody is already there. A real estate agent. " your father sent me to organize a viewing for this property" the lady says."okay Lady, we'll we're not going anywhere so there will be no such thing, I'll talk to my father." Jere sees us standing there," tell her conrad."

"Yeah were not leaving we'll have our father contact you have a nice day." He says getting her out of the door. " what's going on?" I ask confused. " our piece of shit dad is trying to sell the beach house." Conrad says.

Belly's behind us overhearing everything, " what! He can't do that he just can't come sell her- our house!" Conrad sets the muffins down on the table unphased. " wait Conrad did you know about this?"

He says, " yeah, why do you think I came here?" It all made sense. Conrad didn't come here to escape school, he came here to save the house. I felt bad for Conrad, he had school, his mothers death, and now this bullshit with his dad.

"So what are we gonna do? He can't just sell it!" I exclaim. " he's not selling shit, he's gotta get past me first." "All of us." Jere adds.

"Call him! we have to convince him!" Aaliyah says. " he's not a very convincible person..." Conrad says.

"Well he's gonna be today..." I  say. Jeremiah calls his dad, and walks out of the room. He's gone for about 15 minutes then comes down and just goes outside.

I follow him out and I see him sitting on the beach. I sit down next to him," so what did he say?" He sighs and looks at me," well he said it's happening and there's nothing I can do to stop him." Jere says.

"No! He can't do this! He just, can't!" I say.  "He's always been like this Oli. An asshole, he always treated Conrad better then me. All because Conrad was a football star." I run his back," what do you mean?" I ask.

Jeremiah flashback

(Belly and jere are 10)

Belly and I were using the "good blender". To make koolaid slushies. I poured in the packet, belly put in a little water, and I put in the ice.
We put the lid on and pressed the "start button." I didn't know you had to keep your hands on it though and it got everywhere. " oh no!" Belly exclaimed.

I knew I was going to get in so much trouble, I grabbed the paper towels and hurried to clean up I could feel tears stinging my eyes. I go to get more paper towels and see my dads briefcase.

His expensive work suitcase covered in koolaid. Just then he walks down and yells," Jeremiah! Are you serious! What were you thinking! Your so irresponsible, why don't you be more like your brother! Do you see him doing any of this shit?"

Tears were pouring out of my eyes. " I-I'm sorry dad I didn't mean to." Then he spots his briefcase and runs over to it picking it up. " are you kidding me right now Jeremiah? My work suitcase! It's ruined! You can't ever do anything right you know that?"

Just then my mom  comes in and is yelling at him. " stop Adam! He didn't mean to! It's just a briefcase!" My dad is fuming. Conrad and laurel come in the door, they were out running errands. Laurel and Conrad run over to see what's going on. "Stop! Conrad yells, as our dad continues yelling at our me and my mom. "I told you never to touch that blender!" My dad screams at me.

"You never said that!" Conrad yells at him. " you just expected us to know not to touch it! Stop yelling at them!" Conrad yells. My dad stops and is Embarrassed, Conrad was right he never did tell us not to.

That's when laurel comes up and starts screaming at him," stop it Adam! Your a piece of shit you know that?! Screaming at Susannah and Jere like your some tough guy! Get the fuck out!" My dad laughs almost sarcastically," You're not apart of our family! Mind your business laurel! You get out!" That's when laurel slapped him across the face and he stormed out.

Laurel and my mom hugged us kids, and tried to comfort us.

END OF FLASHBACK

Jere explained to me about what happened when him and belly tried to make koolaid. " I'm so sorry Jere, I didn't know he was like that." I say. He sighs and gets up. I follow him into the house.

****
Everyone is sitting on the couch arguing about what to do with Adam. Then belly finally says," I have to call my mom, she's the only one who can change his mind, I have to." Sofia says," but you told her you were comforting Taylor after a breakup! You'd be in so much trouble." Belly shakes her head.

" I don't care anymore, all I care about is saving this house. I can't lose this house, you guys don't understand how much this house means to us."

Belly leaves to call her mom and I can here laurel screaming a mike away, I sit on the couch next to Jere and think to myself. What are we going to do?
