You picked your way through That department store, following the signals you'd picked up on through the Tardis. You'd noticed something odd going on,so,as you tended to do,you opted to follow it.
You were certainly in the right place, slipping through a door to be greeted by a sea of mannequins, slowly moving on their own like old horror movie zombies from the 1950's.
Although this wasn't the 1950's,this was 2005.
And there was a girl! A pretty young blonde, talking to herself and about...two seconds away from being grabbed by a mannequin. But you grabbed her first, offering her a smile and one word.
"Run."
Before dragging her off and away from the slow moving mob. There was a lift nearby you could take, that would be faster then stairs by a long shot.
You knew what these things were,Autons, living plastic. Not fun stuff, but now that you knew where the Autons were, you had everything you needed to deal with them. Easy as pie. Or cake, you liked cake. Last time you remember dealing with these you were an old man, this time....well you were a woman. In a leather jacket no less,not...whatever you wore back then.
You slipped into the elevator,an Auton getting its arm stuck between the closing doors, you gave it a few tugs, and the arm popped out of its socket, and the doors shut.
"You pulled his arm off-" she stammered out,and you nodded, tossing her the arm, which she fumbled with a hit.
"Yep! Plastic."
"Very clever. Nice trick." She huffed, and you pressed a few buttons and the lift started to move. "Who were they then, students? Is this a student thing or what?"
You cocked a brow. "Why would they be students?"
The blonde seemed a tad caught off guard by your question, still holding the Auton's arm in her hands. "I don't know."
You shrugged, turning from looking at the all time glance back at her. "Well, you said it. Why would they be students?"
She took a moment to answer you. "'Cos to get that many people dressed up and being silly, they got to be students."
Well,if these weren't Autons, which they definitely were, that explanation would make perfect sense. Good job blonde. "That makes sense. Well done." You smile over your shoulder that her.
She smiles back. "Thanks."
There was a pause, before you spoke again. "They aren't students."
"Whoever they are, when Wilson finds them, he's going to call the police."
Oh silly blonde, the police won't be much help here unfortunately. "Who's Wilson?"
"Chief electrician." Oh,ohhhh....yes you had seen a chief electrician lying somewhere, stuffed in a corner where he would be rather hard to find.
"Wilson's dead." You sighed as the lift finally stopped moving and the doors began to slide open.
"That's just not funny. That's sick!" The blonde, sounding very distressed, exclaimed from behind you as you shoved your hand into your pocket and your upper torso outside the lift, feeling around for something in your pocket.
"Hold on. Mind your eyes." You mumbled, pulling your sonic out. The blonde was almost pressed against your back, and you brace yourself against the wall with your free hand so you didn't topple over.
"I've had enough of this now." You didn't respond, pointing your sonic at the panel stuck to the wall, disabling the lift mechanism in a shower of white-blue sparks.
