Day 9 ~Heartless~

Maxay's P.O.V

Each day, Siax assigned both Roxas and I a mission. On the ninth day, we were told to go back to Twilight Town, with Marluxia number VII.

There usually weren't that many people out and about. Only the fading sunlight filled the streets. It was the perfect time for us to do our missions.

" Roxas, was it? Marluxia addressed him gently. " I'm not sure I properly introduce myself. I'm Marluxia. Number VII." Then he turns his attention over to me. " You must be Maxay?" He was giving me a wired strange look. It's like was examining me.

Something told me I had to be careful of this guy. " Okay, so... What do we have to do today?" Roxas asked him first.

" Your mission today is to collect hearts. Would you summon your Keyblade? And whatever weapon you have, Maxay?"

" Sure...." Roxas nodded, and the Keyblade took shape in his hand.

I swallowed back before holding out my hands. I created a small black blade. " I... I uh... don't have a Keyblade but I can materialize different weapons using my dark powers." I explained to Marluxia. I think he was expecting me to pull out my own Keyblade. But Xemnas told not to.

Number VII brushed it off. A single pitch-black creature appeared. " Nothing to be feared," Marluxia said. " Roxas, Maxay, Shally we test your powers? Roxas, you use your Keyblade and Maxay you use your dark powers to take down that Heartless."

Ah, so these are the Heartless. I nodded a simple yes. Not long both Roxas and I charged at the two shadow Heartless. " Good." Marluxia said. " That kind of Heartless is called a Shadow."

" Heartless...," Roxas repeated in a mumble, still gripping the Keyblade.

" Yes. Creatures of the dark that roam in search of hearts," Marluxia explained. " They come in two classes. The one you two just defeated was a pureblood. But Purebloods don't release any hearts when you defeat them."

" Then how do we collect hearts?" Roxas asked.
" By defeating the others, known as Emblem Heartless. Like those, right over there."

A few more small Heartless had materialized in front of them, floating in the air. " Got it." Roxas charged again, right into the cluster. I stood behind and watch him do so.  From what I seen from him, he is incredibly light on his feet.  His fighting is a very Nimble. Soon, a heart drifted up from each fallen creature, vanishing into the sky.

This was another first for me as well as Marluxia-- witnessing the harvesting of hearts.  I was task to defeat the last remaining Heartless. I sent a dark aura ball quickly taking it out. " Like that?" Roxas asked.

" Yes. Them Emblem Heartless are your real targets. Did you notice? Unlike with that Shadow. hearts--- which once were the hearts of people--- appeared when you destroyed them. And your task is to collect those hearts. "

" How? Do I have to grab them before they float away?" Asked Roxas. I turn to Marluxia waiting for his answer. Roxas had a point. When they're defeated they float into the air. So if we're supposed to collect them why do they float to the sky?

" N, nothing like that. So long as the Heartless are felled by your weapon Roxas, the Keyblade, the hearts will be captured." Marluxia answers.
"....Then what happens to them?" I asked. I can tell we were getting under his skin a bit after all the questions we kept asking. He took a breath to clam himself down.
"  They will gather as one to create the almighty Kingdom Hearts." I narrowed my eyes. Kingdom Hearts?

Roxas tilted his head. "... Kingdom Hearts?" He asked reading my mind.
" Completing Kingdom Hearts is the primary objective of the Organization. To do that, we need all the hearts we can find."
There was more to what he was leading on. There's something he's not telling us.
