Shar

Sharosta Ti'anjee Shelton. What an ugly little mess of regret she had turned out to be. Averie hated her only child with the ferocity of a deadly Texas Tornado. Her fury of despise toward her only child swirled like a cyclone, swallowing up every bit of small nuisances in the way, so much so it caused Shar to endlessly question if she was really from the Callie bloodline. She never questioned if she were a Shelton, but she wasn't so sure about having Callie blood in her veins. The only real assurance that she possessed Callie blood was the unconditional love and acceptance she garnered from her Uncle Juntas and her Uncle Alex. Those two men, along with her daddy Myles, set the bar for what it meant to have favor from the Lord. It was because of them she believed in God and his favor. She viewed them as strong, patient, intelligent, straight - forward, loving men with deep reservoirs of willpower and perseverance. She never heard them speak of God, but she knew they treated people right, albeit in their own way. They were all well regarded for their reputation, which was unfortunate since the depth of their character far outweighed their reputations, or any hearsay gossip, that floated around about them. Although, her uncles and dad did their best to help give her a well rounded childhood, Shar, with her dark chocolate skin and long coal black soft springy curls of hair, never fit in anywhere. Not because of her appearance, but because she grew up anti social as Averie forbade her to associate with anyone outside of the only two girls she talked to at school. She never let Shar talk on the telephone, or attend social events. She wasn't allowed to go swimming or attend any social camps; nor was she allowed to visit any of her peers at their house or have them come to hers. There were no sleep overs or late night hangouts with anyone. No trick or treating for Halloween candy, no Christmas caroling, no Valentines Day parties, except in her classroom at school, and the only Easter egg hunt she could participate in was at the local church; but, more importantly than all else, absolutely no commencing with the Shelton family. Averie had grown such a disdain for Myles' cunning ways, she loathed him and his family. Never mind, his family was also Shar's family, she only allowed Shar to know and be close to the Callie family. It was such an awkward scenario for Shar growing up, cause she looked nothing like any of the Callie family members, yet they were the only family she was allowed to know. Life with Averie was a total nightmare for Shar. She was so controlled by Averie right down to the nimble strings her puppet master decided to pull, at her will. To refer to the situation as torturous would be an understatement. Shar reconciled that Averie Callie was the devil, straight out of the ninth circle of hell.
