Kill the Executioner

Najenda: "Your target this time is the serial killer that is plaguing the capital. Late at night he suddenly appears and chops off the victim's head. His kill count is unknown."

Tatsumi: "And three of those killed were part of the Imperial Guard right? He has to be strong in order to do that."

Lubbock: "There no way around it, it has to be Zank the Executioner."

Tatsumi: "Who?"

Mine: "You don't know?"

Me: "He had no knowledge of the capital's evils, why would he know about some rampaging prison executioner?"

Mine: "I guess that's fair."

Sheele: "Pardon me, but I don't know either."

Me: "You probably just forgot I think."

Tatsumi: "So what kind of a monster is he?"

Me: "Essentially, he worked at the Empire's greatest prison as the executioner, killing countless thanks to Minister Honest. Years upon years of it led to beheading becoming a necessity for him, he broke in many regards."

Tatsumi: "Certainly sounds like a job that will drive you insane."

Mine: "And he took his beheadings to the streets once the prison's execution felt lacking."

Bulat: "He disappeared right around the time that a detainment force was sent out to find him...who would've thought he'd be in the Capital?"

Me: "Point is, he's killing people indiscriminately and took the prison warden's teigu, so he falls under the category of people we should absolutely go after, especially considering he's not like by the Capital so he will not be supported by anyone else. Let's put him in the ground!"

Bulat: "Calm down there buddy, if you ran in without a partner, you'd be in big trouble."

I jump back from his...presence and hide behind Akame.

Me: "First of all, I can handle myself, second of all, I have a girlfriend."

Bulat: "Bros before h-"

I give him a glare.

Me: "Don't finish that sentence, for your sake."

Akame: "What was he gonna say?"

Me gently petting her head: "Nothing, don't worry about it Aka-chan."

{Timeskip}

Akame, Tatsumi, and I are walking along the streets in our own search area. I opted to go with Akame because yeah, and Tatsumi is here because, actually, I don't know. Akame and I walk together holding hands.

Me: "Nearly at our general search area."

Tatsumi: "The streets are empty at night thanks to the fear of this Executioner guy."

Me: "Makes it easier for us."

Tatsumi: "They don't know how easy it would be to-"

I pull him behind cover as guards run past.

Me: "Yay, guards, I sure love obstacles to the mission."

We get out of our hiding spot before Tatsumi pauses.

Tatsumi: "Can I ask you two something?"

Akame: "Don't worry, I brought snacks."

Me: "That's my girl!"

Tatsumi: "That isn't what I wanted to ask, what I was going to ask was, what were or are the Elite Eight?"

Me: "So, the Empire had a program where they bought children from parents who didn't want them, and then put them into a testing course of sorts, the top performers who survived it were made into an elite group of eight assassins to take out enemies of the Empire. That group included Aka-chan and I, said group dwindled in numbers over time, eventually leaving less than half of us. The two of us eventually left for Night Raid after various doubts and realizations. The deaths of our comrades being disregarded by those around us didn't help our conviction either."
