January 22, 1944

Peter got up early in the morning and had to be at least five or six in the morning because the sounds of the bugles were loud in his ears. Peter got up as quickly as he could, and as he woke up, he had his ears covered and looked at Mike who was in boxers and a wife beater. Mike didn't know what was going to occur next, and he didn't know why they were waking up earlier than usual. There was so much that he had to do, and he knew that they were going into battle shortly. That day. He didn't know what made it more obvious the getting up earlier, or the men that were in their uniforms, and then Richard who walked in a few minutes later, revealed that everyone was going into battle. Peter couldn't believe it, but he also had a feeling at the same time. He knew that it was happening soon, but not so soon. Peter looked around and saw Mike getting dressed, and Carl who was already dressed. And then saw Harry a little uneasy fully dressed. Mike was afraid for himself and was afraid for Peter.

"We leave in 30 minutes." Richard claimed, "So get moving."

Richard then walked off with another one of the Generals, Peter looked at Mike and saw that Mike was getting a letter out of one of the drawers.

"Is that for Lucy?" Peter asked, Mike nodded and sighed. Mike was getting more nervous by the moment, he needed to mail the letter before it was too late.

"When did you write that?" Peter asked him,

"Last night." Mike drawled, "While you passed out."

Peter chuckled, and he started to think about Lucy was up to. She was probably worried sick about Mike, but spending time with his brothers, and the rest of his family to keep her mind off everything. But Mike always knew that Lucy was stronger than people thought, and so did Peter. Which was one of the reasons all three of them got along so well, they all could understand each other, especially since all of them were underdogs.

"I don't want her to be hurt if I don't survive." Mike said, "I worked too hard to get the life I wanted, and with her as well, I can't put her through it."

"You won't..." Peter said before Mike could say anything else, and before he could continue his worrying, "You won't because you're not going to die."

Mike sighed, almost on the brink of panic. He didn't know what his fate was going to be. And Peter knew how much returning home meant to him. Peter placed his hand onto Mike's shoulder trying his best to calm him down and moments later, Mike felt calmer. He looked into Peter's eyes out of relief.

"Are you ready?" Peter asked him,

"Yes, I just need to mail this." Mike said talking about the letter. Peter smiled and agreed.

As the two of them went to the mailroom, Mike and Peter realized that they had fifteen minutes left until they had to leave. Mike immediately handed over the letter quickly to the mailman and ran off with Peter. Mike was sprinting. And Peter was running with him.

"Why are you running so fast?" Peter asked,

"Because I like to be early." Mike said,

"Of course you do." Peter joked.

As they ran over to the truck, they sat down next to Alexander and Mason. Mason greeted them, followed by Alexander. Alexander waved to them, and both of them noticed that Carl wasn't there yet. Mike looked over and saw that Harry was already there, and he and Peter knew that something wasn't right.

"Where's Carl?" Peter asked,

"I don't know, He said he was on his way." Harry answered as he was looking around slightly confused, No one thought Carl would have been one of the last ones to show up. Which got Harry concerned about where he was. Until Carl finally showed up running to the truck. He was sprinting as fast as he could. Harry, Mike, and Peter all looked relieved to see that he was there. . Carl hopped onto the truck next to Mike, and gasped for air, given how fast he was sprinting. Mike looked in relief almost thinking that he wasn't going to show up.
