During the loneliness of the night,
Rain taps softly on my window,
Such a nonchalant sound,
Like a mother's lullaby,
Let the grand piano play,
Tuned into the gentle sway,
Both piano and rain -
Joined in perfect harmony,
This is a lullaby for all who sleep -
Dreaming of their future adventures,
And one for those who lie awake -
Who dwell on past mistakes,
I lean my head against the window,
Staring out at the city below,
Smiling to myself -
Whilst I listen to the world's lullaby.
