7. The Red Knight

They look in the direction of the noise to see the white knight, fastly approaching...

"Look! The White Knight!" Kitty exclaims

White knight approaches quickly on his horse while yelling to the girls, "Run, quickly! They're coming!"

"Who's coming?" Raven asks

"Follow me!" white knight called as he galloped down the hill. The girls race to follow, still completely confused as to what is going on. Just as they cross a bridge, someone else brings them to a halt. The Red Knight.

"Stop right there." The red knight's deep voice rings out.

'damn.' Mason thought with raised eyebrows

"Men, deploy." The Red Knight commands as he sends out a card guard. Suddenly dozens of other guards come from behind his back, surrounding the entire bridge they crossed.

Lizzie turned to the White Knight to ask, "Why couldn't you do anything?"

"Well, I couldn't do anything," The white knight responds nonchalantly, "It was his turn."

Mason piped up from behind the white knight, "Makes sense to me." She said with a shrug.

Everyone ignored Mason except for a fleeting glance from the red knight, which went unnoticed.

Raven speaks up to ask, "Well, what do you want with us?"

"I am the attendance officer for Wonderland high school," The red knight said, "Unless you have a hall pass signed by the vice-principal, I am bound to deliver you back to class."

Mason looks around, realising that no one was paying a single bit of attention to her. She discretely transforms but as she's about to take off and try to run to the palace, she suddenly feels cold steel against the back of her neck. While she truly wanted to just lash out or run away, she didn't feel like getting decapitated today. She slowly lowered herself to the ground, laying down until she feels the sword retract from her neck. Transforming back to human form, she rolls over onto her back to look up at the card guard glaring down at her with a hand on his sword. She glares back at him as a growl comes from her throat. He looks away and Mason quickly stands back up and brushing the dirt off her dress.

Apparently Kitty had the same idea, "Don't worry Lizzie, I'll go warn your mom!" Kitty tries disappearing but she can't. "Something's wrong with my magic! I can't teleport out of here!"

"Maybe it's...part of the curse?" Maddie guesses.

Lizzie turns to her friends before saying, "It doesn't matter - we'll all by at the palace soon enough. Once we get to the vice-principal, I'll just explain our situation." She clears her throat before turning back to the red knight, "How long do we get to the school anyway?"

"It's not far to there, because...you're already here." The red knight states

Mason let out a groan and dropped her forehead onto Maddie's shoulder. 'Of course we have to go to school today. Greattt' She thinks. Mason doesn't hate school. In fact, she doesn't hate it in the slightest. But Wonderland scool is a completely different story. It's absolutely topsy-turvy and every class is hextremely difficult. You could be in one class for five minutes and the next class for 2 hours. Everything is completely unpredictable.

"Of all the days we just had to come here on school day!" Maddie says with a huff.

"School or no school, you realize my mother is the queen?" Lizzie questions the knight with an air of royalty around her, "I don't have to stay here. Come along, my friends." Lizzie trys to regally march away from the school but she is stopped in her tracks by the card guards, "But-but!-" She stutters out in disbelief.

The Red Knight shakes his head, "Sorry ma'am, but you're on school grounds now, you follow school rules. And none of you is going anywhere until you graduate."

"You don't understand! I can't go to school! Take us to the palace immediately!" Lizzie exclaims.

"Sorry your majesty, but those are the rules. The Red knight says sincerely as Lizzie folds her arms in annoyance, "Once you step onto campus no one is free to go unless you pass your classes."

Following behind the group is the White Knight. He quickly looks around to make sure no one is looking before he slips away and discretely heads another direction. No one notices accept one, Mason. She raises an eyebrow but just shakes it off and continues with the group towards Wonderland high.

The Red Knight slows down a bit and looks at the group, "Look. I'm afraid we've gotten off to a bad start, He removes his helmet and smiles dashingly at the girls, "Chase is the name. Chase Redford."

Heyyy so we are finally back with a new chapter of this story. We have finally been introduced to Chase! Sorry for the wait on this chapter but it is finally here. I hope you all are doing alright. Remember to drink water, eat, and get some rest.
