Chapter 9

"Max... would you like to go out with me?" she asks.

"No," I say.

"What?" she asks shocked. All eyes were on me.

"I w-would love t-to go out w-with y-you," I force a smile.

"You scared me for a second," Ash lets out a sigh of relief.

"You scared all of us," Tay adds.

"Come on let's get you home," Jade says.

"My car is just over there," Paige points down the block.

"Ok," I cough.

"Do you think you can make it?" Jade and Paige ask at the same time.

"W-we'll see," I mutter. When Tay hears that he picks me up and puts me on his back. We walks slowly to Paige's car. I lay down in the back with my feet on Jade and my head in Ash's lap. Ash is stroking my hair lovingly.

"I'm so glad we found you," Ash breaks the silence.

"Same," I croak. "B-but... c-can we...t-talk...when I g-get my... straight b-back."

"Hush baby," she rubs my head "and yes we can talk when you get your straight back." The rest of the car ride is silent. We pulled into my driveway and we all got out. I smile when I see my house. I was on Tay's back again. We walk up my front steps and Paige knocks on my front door. My parents are on a business trip and aren't home.

"T-they a-aren't home," I grunt.

"Try the back door," Tay sighs as he sets me down on a chair on the porch. Paige Jade and Ash make their way around to the back of the house. "Are you gonna press charges?" Tay asks. I nod. "We should call the cops when we get you inside, okay?" I nod again. The door opens and Paige says "we had to use a garden tool to get the backdoor open but we didn't break anything."

"Alright let's get you upstairs," Tay puts me on his back and walks up the stairs. Jade is in my room along with Ash.

"We fixed your bed for you," Jade smiles sadly.

"Thank y-you," I groan as Tay sets me down on the bed.

"Are you hungry?" Jade asks. I nod. "I'll go get some food," she says and leaves the room.

"I'll call the cops," Tay says and walks out.

"I'll come with," Paige calls after him leaving me and Ashley alone. The room is silent. Ashley is sitting next to me on the bed one hand is rubbing my arm and the other is on my stomach.

"Why," I break the silence "w-why d-did you c-chose m-me? W-was it be-bec-cause of T-tay again?"

"No it wasn't," she responds looking at me.

"Why then?"

"Because I realized that gender doesn't matter it's all about the personality and you have an amazing one," she smiles.

"C-can I ask you something else?"

"Anything Max."

"Would you kiss me?" Her smile grows and she nods as she leans down. Her lips meet mine. The kiss is slow. She bites down on my bottom lip. I have to pull away because my lip starts hurting.

"Sorry," she brings her hand to her lip. "Oh my god Max! Your lip is bleeding again! It must have been the kiss. I'm so sorry. Let me go get something to clean it- Why are you laughing?"

"B-bceuse you just switched f-from sexy to w-worried in like t-two seconds."

"That's not funny. I was and still am worried," she grunts walking into my bathroom and coming back with a wet washcloth. She sit back down on the bed and wipes the blood from my lip. She takes the opportunity to clean my other cuts. "Can I take off your shirt?" I give her a confused look "I want to see if you have any broken ribs." I nod and reach down and try to pull the shirt over my head but it huts too much. Ashley sees me struggling "here let me help," she grabs the hem of my shit and pulls it over my head. she gasps when she sees my bruised torso. "Oh my god. That little bastard." She runs her hands on my stomach "he beat you up really badly babe. Jade can you get some ice... now!" she yells downstairs. In a matter of seconds Jade comes sprinting up the stairs with an icepack in her hand.

"What is it? What happened?" she pants.

"Max just needs some ice for her bruises."

"Ew those are really really bad," Jade hands Ash the icepack. I squirm when the ice touches my skin.

"Max stop moving your ribs might be broken and moving like that will make it worse," Ash scolds me.

"Sorry," I grumble.

"I'll go back to making you food," Jade says leaving the room.

"A-are my ribs broken?" I ask.

"I don't think so. Just really really badly bruised. But you still shouldn't move that much," she places a hand on my ribs "nah they're not broken."

"Ok." We sit there in silence.

"Ok I have soup a grilled cheese and salad," Jade comes into my room with a try full of food and sets it down on my desk.

"Thanks," Ash and I reply at the same time.

"Ok the police are on there way," Tay says walking back into the room with Paige at his side. We talk amongst ourselves until the police come. I file a report and the police say they are going to take tha man into custody as soon as they are done here and then they are gonna come back tomorrow. Tay, Paige, jade and Ash insist that they spend the night. I wasn't gonna argue. I missed them too much to say no. Luckily I have a tv in my room other wise I would have had to go downstairs. Paige puts on Pitch Perfect. Ash is snuggled up into my side while Jade, Paige and Tay sit on the floor in front of my bed. I look around at my friends and think to myself I'm so luck to have these bitches. This is the best way to fall asleep. Surrounded by people I love and people who love me.
