Minji was seated next to the bed as she stared at the sleeping boy while his weak breaths were making her feel uneasy.
Jungwon had been unconscious for hours, giving the girl no chance to rest as the worry had kept her awake through the whole night.

"Doctor friend! Why isn't he waking up?"

Minji asked impatiently as the older boy walked to the room at the sound of her desperate question.
He sat down next to the bed while checking the injured boy's state as he sighed deeply.

"He will wake up soon, he always does..."

Minji stared at the ground while biting her lip to stop the tears she had been holding back for the past hours.
She felt hopeless while watching the boy's current state that she felt responsible for.
After all, he did it to save her.
The older boy noticed her sudden change as he stared at her with worry.

"Uhh, I'm Jake. Jungwon must've told you about me"

Jake said while extending his hand out with a friendly smile to properly introduce himself to her as he felt awkward sitting down with a complete stranger.
Minji looked up at the boy before slowly extending her hand out to reach his.
She feigned a small smile at him before nodding her head at his words.

"Yeah, he mentioned about you.
I'm Minji"

Minji chuckled before averting her gaze to the boy lying on the bed as his peaceful face was causing her great distress.
She didn't notice the tear falling down her cheek as she held the boy's cold hand in hers.
She would've done anything to see him open his eyes even if it was just to stare at her with that intense gaze.

"I've heard a lot about you, Minji"

Minji snapped her head towards the older boy as she gave him a questioning look, urging him to continue.
He chuckled at her reaction before looking at the peaceful boy on the bed while sighing at the state of him.

"You're the first person to appear in his life after me.
He doesn't let a lot of people get that close to him..."

Minji frowned at his words as she stared at the sleeping boy while a smile slowly grew on her lips.
Suddenly Jungwon cleared his throat before squinting his eyes as he took a deep breath.

"You know I can hear you..."

Minji flinched at the sound of his sudden hoarse voice as a bright smile grew on her face.
She sat up before grabbing the boy's hand while squeezing it tightly.

"You're awake!"

Jungwon hissed at the pain as he attempted to get up only to fall back as his wound hit the bed, worsening the pain.
Minji watched him struggle while staring at him with saddened eyes.
Jungwon eventually gave up as he exhaled loudly while resting his head against the bed, unable to move.
Jake slowly got up from his seat before heading out of the door to leave the two alone.

Jungwon's short moment of peaceful silence was soon ended by the sniffling sounds beside him as he snapped his head to look at the girl only to be faced with her teary eyes.
Jungwon felt uneasy as he could only stare at her while not knowing how to react.

"This is all my fault! You're hurt-"

Minji's sobs were interrupted as Jungwon lifted his hand to hold hers, staring at her with an amused expression.
The girl froze as she stared at their intertwined hands while the boy chuckled at her reaction.

"Shh, it's alright"

Jungwon assured the girl while smiling at her as he couldn't describe the overwhelming feeling of knowing she cared for him.
Minji slowly lifted her head to look at the boy as her heart jumped at the sight of his gentle gaze.
She stared into his eyes as she couldn't bring herself to look away.
