Some people want it all
But I don't want nothing at all
If it ain't you baby
If I ain't got you baby
Some people want diamond rings
Some just want everything
But everything means nothing
If I ain't got you
~Alicia Keys "If I Ain't Got You"

I woke up this morning sprawled on the couch with my hand in a bag of chips as the TV watched me.

"Monte!" I yelled.

"Monte!" I yelled again.

Where the hell is Monte? Never mind, I already know. Probably at work as always. I hate being in this house all alone.

I searched for my phone and called him.

Ring...
Ring...
Ring...

No answer, of course.

I scrolled through my contacts "Wright Inc." Then pressed call.

Ring...

"Wright Inc. this is Brittany speaking, how may I help you?"

Brittany was Monte's cousin. Their whole family worked at the empire.

"Hey Brittany, it's Brandee."

"Hey D, wassup?"

"Do you know why Monte isn't answering his phone?" I asked in a desperate tone.

"Yeah, he's in a meeting. You want me to tell him to call you when he gets out?"

"Yes, I need somebody to talk to."
"Alright, I will. Bye Brandee."

"Thanks, bye Brittany." I disconnected the phone and sighed. I needed to get out of here. I got up and slipped on some sweats, grabbed my keys and headed out the door. Climbing in my Mercedes Benz and putting the keys in the ignition, I drove out the driveway. I glanced out the window and saw the neighbor sitting on the porch.

"Damn, he's fine." I thought to myself as I drove down the street. I shook my head. You sound so desperate and you have a man. I kept driving, having no idea where to go next. I just needed to get out of that house. It's too big to always be in it alone.

Just then, the phone rang. I looked at the caller ID.

Monte.

About damn time I thought before I answered.

"Why didn't you come home last night?"

"Damn, I can't get a hey or hello?" He chuckled.

"Don't play with me Monte, this has been going on for too long. When are you coming home?"

"Soon baby, I miss you."

"When is soon? Tonight?"

"I'm on my way home now DD" he said trying to butter me up. It's not going to work though.

"Good, cuz we really need to talk. I'm tired of this."

"Tired of what Brandee?" He said raising his voice,"You don't have anything to be tired from."

Was this dude serious? Oh hell no.

"You really wanna go there Monte? You're the reason 'I don't have anything to be tired from'. Me trying to fulfill your dreams and putting mine to the back burner. So don't start with me."

He sighed. "Okay, we'll talk about this when I get home."

"Bye Monte." I hung up the phone just so he could know that I was pissed. I drove back home and noticed the neighbor was still outside. When I got out the car, he waved. I gave him a weak smile, waved back and walked into the house. Damn, he really is fine.
