24. He's my brother.

We finally arrive at the hospital after explaining what happened to Jasmine. He thinks Damian's dad caught up with Jasmine because his son has been arrested and he knew that he'll be next so he must have hurried things up.

We walk to the nurse who's busy doing something in the laptop and she raises her eyes when we approach, “Jasmine martinez?” I ask.

“she's in Room 207 down the hall.”

“thanks.” we are already heading there as soon as she says it.

We walk into the room, jasmine is in a bad state her head is tied with a bandage and her leg and arm have been blastered.

When she looks at us she tries to get comfortable but the pain she feels by doing that makes her not to move.

Her chin is swolen and her nose is black.

“thank you for coming.”

“sorry for what happened to you.” I say feeling sorry for her I can just imagine the amount of pain she's feeling.

“no its okay,  I deserve this.” she says “incase I dont make it out of surgery,  tell Gabby that i'm so sorry for what I made her go through.” she starts after i'm  seated on the bedside with Jake standing behind me. “Gabby wanted to know who your parents are and since she won't be able to hear it herself,  i'll tell you since I believe you also want to find out.”

“Actually,  I already know our mom's name,  I just dont know where to find her.” I say.

“well, Lucia is in Us,  she is the CEO and president of the new beginnings company,  its a well known company you won't have a problem locating it.”

“looks like you knew where she was way back,  but you chose not to tell Gabby.” I observe.

“I did.” she says looking so disappointed in herself. “I should have told her,  I was just Jealous that her life would be so good when she meets Lucia since she owns a prominent company.” she goes silent for a second “Lucia has been looking for you girls for a long time but she was led to believe that you don't want to see her anymore and you hate her. Jerry told her that the two of you were okay and comfortable wherever you were, that you dont need her anymore.”

“You knew mommy Jane's husband?”

“yes,  we planned everything that happened in your life, Ava showing up,  Jane getting killed, Gabby meeting Damian and his dad. We even planned to kill lucia if she insisted on having the two of you back.”

“how could you be that hurtless. Huh” i ask cringing my face in disgust aware of Jake gently rubbing my shoulders.

“I was desperate for money.” she says a lone drop of tear rolling on her cheek.

“my dad.” I starter. “who is he? Is he alive? Does he know that he has daughters.” I ask trying ro be strong. I've come so far to start breaking down right now.

“yes your father is very much alive and so close to you. He just doesn't know that he has Daughters. Lucia never had a chance to tell him about it. She found out that she was pregnant when your dad had gone to another state for work and he was married with a 2 year old kid at that time so she had to keep the pregnancy to her self because she was the mistress and didn't want to mess up his marriage.”

“Who is he?”

“Attorney scott.”

My eyes goes wide.

“Curtis' dad?!” Jake asks.

“yes.” she looks remorseful. “i'm so sorry for doing all those bad things to you,  jealousy for my sister got the better of me. I never liked her since we never shared a dad and she was the most loved kid,  she was always a good person and her being able to bare children when i'm barren made me hate her so much for having it all including brains.” she reaches to wipe a drop of tear on her cheek. “when she left you at the johnsons,  I heard her speaking with mom telling her to look after Gabby as she goes to finish schooling when I heard her say that she'll come back for the two of you when she's financially settled and stable I made mom believe that I can take care of Gabby and when she Allowed me to go with her is when Jerry made me do all those things to her since he was not able to do anything to you because Jane never allowed it.”

“ This is just too much to take in.” I finally say when I remain speechless.

“I know; just please forgive me for all that.” she says and two nurses with a doctor walks in.

“its time for the surgery.” the doctor says and I stand moving aside for him

“Gabby needs that apology more than I do.” I say.

I slowly walk to the door. my head feels so heavy and I practically feel confused trying to process the whole of it.
“I hope you survive the surgery.” I tell her before stepping out of the door as Jake closes it behind him.

We walk to the cafeteria; I need to process it all before going to check on Gabby.

I'm kind of positive that she'll make it,  she's my twin I can feel her, so strong.

Jake leads me to the cafeteria and he pulls a seat at a table. I slowly lower myself on it,  “ thank you.”

He sits beside me and I let him hold my hand when he reaches for it. “do you want to talk about it?” he asks and I shake my head.

“just stay here with me and let me process it all.” I tell him as I lean on his shoulder and his other hand goes around my back his head leaning against mine.

“take all the time you need.”

We sit in silence as I let everything I just found out sink in. curtis is my brother, My mom is very much alive and kicking,  Attorney scott is my dad,  Jerry,  jasmine,  Ava,  Damian,  his dad were at the very center of us being separated from each other.

Lucia happens to be a good person, she was planning on coming back for us but she was lead to believe that we hate her for leaving so she had to give up.

I honestly don't know of I should be angry at her for not fighting and coming back for us or should I be happy that she gave up and is alive today since they never went on with their plan of killing her because she never kept on wanting to comeback. Its all just too much and confusing.

Ever since I met Curtis,  his company has always been so welcoming and embracing. It always felt strangely safe and homely,  I guess I now know why.

I raise my head from Jakes shoulder and I look at him. “ Curtis, he is my brother.” is the first thing I say after a long fifteen minutes of sitting here in silence.

“Yeah..he  is.”

“lets go. We need to see how Gabby is doing.” I say.

“you're now okay?”

“yeah. Still in shock but its nothing I can't handle.”

“okay lets get going then.”

I lace my fingers with his. “Baby.” I whisper.

“yeah..” he looks at me in the eyes. His are dark with emotion and full of concern. I love how they go soft when then bore into mine.

“thank you. ” I say looking him in the eyes. “thankyou for being my boyfriend,  for being there for me through this hard time, for offering a shoulder to cry and lean on. It means alot. I love you so much.”

I just realised he has been there for me and been so extra caring,  men like him don't just fall off trees. He deserves an appreciation.

“I love you too so much and you know it, i love seeing you relaxed and not overworked by all this.” he leans in to kiss me and I lean in too.

I just never get tired of his kisses; they're heavenly.

My phone rings and I receieve it when I see its Alec,

Alec.
Me.

Gabby just got out of surgery, she's out of danger.
Alec.

We are on our way.
Me.

Okay.
Alec.

“at last some good news. Gabby is out of danger. Lets go.” I tell Jake and we walk to the parking lot.

I feel so relieved,  I didn't know my heart was so heavy untill I heard the news.
