28. Family reunion

6years later.

"auntie Gabby." a little chirpy voice calls from the living room. "Aimee took my toy." Carl whines.

"Aimee, what did we talk about taking Carl's toys?"

Aimee is now six years old and Carl is Five. We just arrived from school and i'm making them something to eat. I now live at attorny's home and I graduated two months ago. My friends are busy working and I have to pick the kids from school.

kassie or zac will pick Aimee later after work and Jake or Danny will pick Carl later. Dad flatly refused to let me live in an apartment most especially now that Curtis moved out after marrying Sam and Danny lives with Jake elsewhere also.

Anne left for a business meeting a while ago and dad left for a case in court hw was promoted to a judge.

"But I also want to play." she pouts her lips.

"okay how about we do this, you eat the sandwiches I made for you. I help you both shower and the we play after doing the homework before your parents pick you up. " I tell the both of them. "we're gonna do that?"

"yeah." they both agree.

We are done with everything and Carl took a nap leaving me with Aimee. She loves basketball even at a small age, we are headed outside to play a little since she won't stop insisting.

"Okay fine. Go ahead and bring the ball." I finally accept since she won't stop bagging me and I watch as she jumps while running.

We go out to the backyard where Curtis used to practise for his basketball games. We play for quite sometime as she keeps laughing at me when I miss and she laughs so much when I trip and fall on my ass.

"sorry Auntie." she finallys says when she catches her breath.

"You wanna play some more?"

"No I'm tired." she smiles bouncing the ball at me breathing so heavily from all the running.

Anne gets inside the gate and she turns being to happy to see her. "Grandma." she runs into her arms leaving me with the ball in my hands.

"How are you baby?" Anne greets her pulling her in for a hug.

She walks with Aimee her hand draped around her shoulder and I kiss her cheeks briefly before following them inside.

"Where is Carl? " she asks Aimee flopping on the couch tiredly.

"Here I am Grandma." a small chirpy voice says from the stairs he is still slippy and he walks slowly down stairs.

"Come here." I tell him and he comes to sit next to me on the couch.

My phone chimes and I reach for it.

Its a chat from the group chat, we still have it till now.
"Is that mommy?" Carl asks.

"Noo its not. But she must be a few minutes out."

Curtis: Hey guys we are on our way home, we are planning a small family gathering for Sam's birthday.

Kassie: good thing its friday, Zac and I will be there. I'm closing up at work.

Me: It'll happen here right?

Sam: yeah.

Danny :Yeah, we'll be there. Just a few minutes.

"We are having a small family Party for Sam's birthday here. Its okay with you right." I tell Anne.

"Yeah its totally fine." she says tickling Aimee who is laughing soo hard.

Ciara: see you guys there. Lol

The party is already started and everybody is here except Jake and Alec. Jake works at his dad's company that is in town but had to go to another one that is outside town which is two hrs away. Alec just confirmed that he is almost here. He helps his dad with his hospital's finances.

Kassie and zac arrived a while ago and Aimee was over the moon when she saw them. She saw them last in the morning and she kept asking for them. Danny is helping Carl eat since its almost his bedtime and he will sleep without eating.

Dad walks in and I hug him briefly and he walks upstairs to their room after kissing my hair. He wants me to be the CEO of the restaurant since I just graduated and i'm more than happy to do it.

I walk to the kitchen to help Sam arrange the wine glasses, I smile at curtis who is busy talking tohis mom in the dining room.

"So how are things going with my brother?" I ask sam themoment I walk to the kitchen.

"Well, he is being so charming. He is the one who insisted on coming home for the birthday party. "

"Atleast I got to see you guys, its been six months. I missed you guys."

"I missed you too so much. " she says smiling and picking the wine glass.

The kitchen door opens and ciara walks in with a huge smile. "Hello bitches." she shouts.

As I reach to hug her, my eyes meets with Alecs and a pang of happiness rises in me. Its been a week since I saw him and I didn't know how much I missed him until I saw him.

He is in black jeans and a white T-shirt with white canvas shoes and black bomber jacket.

His hair is nicely trimmed and he looks so handsome.
"Are you going to say hi or are you going to keep staring at me?" he says spreading his arms and I run into them. "How are you baby." he whispers into my ear.

"I'm fine, I missed you so much " I whisper back and he tightens his hold on my waist and kisses my lips lightly.

"Hey I wanna say hi to my brother in law too." Danny whines from behind me and we pull out if the hug.

"where is my best friend?" Alec asks going in for the hug with her.

"He is with his dad he wants to sleep so Jake is tucking him in bed." she says.

" okay, I'll talk with him tommorrow then."

We finally gather at the living room for the cake and toasting for Sam.
Dad and Anne are seated at the couch with Aimee between them. She is beginning to droop to sleep and Zac just went to carry her up to My bed since they'll leave after the party.

They are planning on going to visit Kassie's mom tommorow.

Jake and Danny are seated at the other couch with jake's hand draped around Danny's shoulder, he is twirling Danny's hair with his index finger.

Kassie is helping Ciara get the wine.

Curtis is having a chat with sam at the staircase and she is blushing at whatever he is telling her. Alec is standing behind me with his hand around my neck and his cologn make me want to smell him the whole night.

After a couple of cheering curtis stands up and, "can I have your attention please?" he says hitting the wine glass with a spoon and everybody goes silent.

"we have something to tell you guys." he says streaching his hand for sam to stand up. "you going to tell them or should I give them the good news?" he asks her.

"Tell them." sam says briefly.

Curtis turns to us. "We are expecting a baby. " he breaks the news and kassie dramatically jumps up in joy. Zac just earned himself a crazy wife.

Everybody shouts in joy. They're so happy for them.

"congratulations son." Dad says hugging him.
He looks so happy.

I walk to him with a huge smile plastered on my face. "congratulations, you know what that means right?" I ask him pulling out of the hug.

"what does it mean?"

"another niece or nephew to babysit." I grin. " I just love kids." I say hugging him again.
