"Woah." I said running up to the tree.
"I know, exactly what I said when I first found it."
"Wait you didn't know this was here?"
"No, last night I found it when I was taking Moose out, it was so weird."
" What happened?" I said hugging the tree.
"So I was taking Moose out and then suddenly he ran into the woods. He never goes in there, he always just sticks with me. But it was like he knew something was up."
He spaced out for a few seconds like he knew something or was scared of something.
"Should I ask what happened next?" I said staring at him. He turned and looked at me like he was looking for an answer.
"Yeah, he just ran away and I caught up to him and I found this place, and then we went back to the house." He said quickly as he leaned against the tree. His voice was hesitant so I knew he was lying.
There was silence for an uncomfortable amount of time, I wanted him to break the ice but it never happened.
I walked up to him and climbed up the branch above him.
"You know, you don't have to lie to me." I said looking down at him.
He laid his head against the tree looking up at me. We stayed like that for a while until I put my hand down for him. He smiled and grabbed my hand while climbing up to me. We both made it to a flat surface on the tree. Big enough that we could both lie down, looking at the branches above us.
"Let's call this the talking tree." I said while patting the tree.
"So the tree talks know?" He said with a smirk.
"No, we talk to it. But you need one other person for it to listen." I said staring at him.
He turned and looked at me with a smile.
"It sounds like you made that up."
I smiled and shrugged. "Find out yourself."
He sighed and looked back up at the branches.
"Well, when we graduated I was living with my mom at the time. And a couple of months after that I got sick and was diagnosed with cancer. All the doctors said it would be a miracle if I lived. But one night this little girl..." He turned and looked at me.
"Never mind it sounds dumb."
"No, no. I want to hear it."
He sighed and looked back up.
"Well, there was this girl with long red hair who said I was going to die that day. She said she could heal me for a price. The price of playing what she called the fairest game. She explained the rules to me and-."
"What were the rules?" I said invested in the story.
"Well, she said that I would be in a series of games. But they were more like tasks. If I agreed to play her game, she would heal me for five weeks. The games only lasted four weeks, but if you lost you die within seven days."
"And you agreed to all of it." I said surprised.
He nodded still looking at the sky. Two birds flew above us singing a beautiful tune with clouds making their way slowly across the sky.
Saud looked at me.
"What does the color blue look like?"
