Chapter 6: The Fallout

"Thirty seconds everyone! Get in your spots!" Miss Kate says getting the dancers together.

The curtain goes up and J-Troupe cheers.

Michelle in all pink walks down a platform to Eldon in green.

Riley in the interview chair, "The story behind this dance is inspired by Romeo and Juliet."

West in the interview chair, "They love each other but they aren't able to be together because of their families."

James in the interview chair, "Until we finally realize they are in love and then we accept it"

Eldon in the interview chair, "I feel like the dance really does reflect our relationship a lot. I mean me and Michelle being Romeo and Juliet, it kind of works out perfectly."

Charlie in the interview chair, "Watching Michelle and Eldon do their duet I can sense something is not right there. They are connecting on a whole other level as partners, I hope one day I'm able to connect like they do. But that got me thinking, isn't Eldon dating Emily? Why isn't he doing this romantic duet with her?"

Noah in the interview chair, "I love the duet and all but I thought the final routine was a group routine, not the Eldon and Michelle show. Where is the rest of A-Troupe?"

Eldon lifts Michelle over his head.

Michelle in the interview chair, "I feel the dance is now ten times stronger because now I know that me and Eldon will be a couple. This is a perfect start to our relationship"

The rest of A-Troupe comes out of their hiding places and the stage explodes with dance.

As the dance ends Emily's eyes fill up with tears. Charlie sees it and whispers to Noah, "What's wrong with Emily? Is she hurt?"

"I didn't see anything happen in the routine, I'm not sure" says Noah

A-Troupe comes together and takes their bow, and after Emily quickly exits the stage.

Emily in the interview chair crying, "Everything has been handed to Michelle on a plate. She's never had to work for anything and now she's taken the one thing I though I would always have. She just has to have it all"

"I'm going to go check on her, I'll be right back" Charlie says to Noah as she exits her seat as everyone is standing and clapping.

Charlie in the interview chair, "Why did I check on Emily? Well I think someone should be there for her and right now it seems she doesn't really have anyone"

Charlie walks  through the arena until she found a door with the words "The Next Step" on it. As she entered she heard a soft cry.

"Emily? Are you in here?" Charlie said walking slowly into the room

As Emily saw the girl her frown went to a nasty stare.

Emily in the interview chair, "What is Michelle's sister doing here? Come to rub it in?"

"Emily I saw your face on stage and I thought I would come and check on you" says Charlie.

Emily stands up and starts walking towards the girl, "Did she tell you about it? Did you know? Was I the only one in the whole studio that didn't know?" Emily said getting louder and louder

"Know what?" Charlie said confused.

Emily in the interview chair, "How does she not know? It's her sister for crying out loud, she has to be lying"

Emily looked at Charlie's face to find any lie, but couldn't find anything.

"Your sister and Eldon..." Emily said trying to jog Charlie's memory, but she honestly didn't know.

"What about them?" says Charlie confused

"Your sister stole my boyfriend and you have the guts to come here and lie to my face about it?" Emily yells.

Charlie took a step back making herself smaller, "I promise you I didn't know anything about Michelle and Eldon."

"Then why are you here J-Trouper?" says Emily

"I wanted to check on you and be your friend because at the moment it doesn't look like you have many. Emily have you ever stopped to think why I'm the only one that came to look for you?" Charlie said in a soft voice.

Emily in the interview chair, "What Charlie is saying makes sense, I've burned too many bridges. I'm not about to break another one."

"I'm sorry for yelling at you Charlie" says Emily wiping her tears

"It's OK, I think it's been a long day for us all." Says Charlie as she walks over and gives Emily a hug.

Emily in the interview chair, "This is not how I expected my regionals to go. First losing my boyfriend and then hugging a thirteen year old. Hopefully I can build myself back up from this in time for Nationals, because the Next Step is going to need all the help it can get."

As the curtain rises again both teams are lined up holding hands. Emily has finally returned to her team. Charlie gives Emily a thumbs up from the audience and she smiles.

"What happened? Is she OK?" Noah whispers to Charlie

"Nothing to worry about, she's all good" Charlie lies

"Ladies and gentlemen the winner of the seventeenth annual Absolute Dance Regional competition is....." The announcer says

"The Next Step!" The announcer says after a long pause. A-Troupe jumps up and down hugging each other, while J-Troupe lets out their biggest cheers.

"The reign is over for Elite" Chuck the host says as Amanda gives Emily an evil stare as she walks by.

Giselle in the interview chair, "We won Regionals!"

Stephanie in the interview chair, "I still can't believe it, I have no clue what to say, I'm speechless"

James in the interview chair, "I'm so pumped right now, Nationals here we come, baby!"

Miss Kate passes Emily and Michelle the trophy and they both hold it up. As they lower it Michelle turns to Emily and says, "So, are we OK?"

Emily looks at her angrily and walks away with the trophy.

J-Troupe in the audience leads the crowd in a cheer saying, "Go Next Step, Go Next Step!"

Chris puts his hand up and yells, "Dolphin tail" He makes a dolphin noise and everyone follows.
